Osgood pays tribute to Moss, Patriots - Extra Points - Boston.com

Could this guy who is sort of like a Josh Cribbs be a consideration to play as a #3 or #4 here?

3 Pro Bowls in 6 seasons shows me he is a special type of player and with being a STs ace and a viable WR he is just what we look for in a player.

Word out is that he is not crazy about Norv Turner and he was raised in the Boston area - Sounds like a perfect guy to go after and one that won't cost a fortune.

So Wilfork is off giving his Pats cap away eh?..sign of things to come? :0

I would think it would be nice to see him with a Patriots cap on ....for real next time :)

according to asante, the pats don't care about their players, so free agents won't come here.

Osgood = the one man who could dethrone Adam Seward. I say bring him in!

He should never see the light of day on offense. Special teams? I'd love to have him aboard!

I say welcome aboard...

I'd love to have Kassim Osgood on the team, but don't know how realistic it is. Sam Aiken is essentially a poor man's Kassim Osgood, and I don't think there is room for another WR who is primarily a special teamer on the roster.

I don't believe that Sam Aiken has a guaranteed job. He was outplayed by both Lockett and Arrington on special teams last year. As for WR, I'm pretty sure that half the people in this forum could catch more passes than he did..

If the Pats can upgrade Aiken and get someone who could see some time on passing downs, then great. And Osgood did well for himself under Schottenheimer when called upon.

Now, that being said, Osgood is also the guy who wanted to be traded prior to the start of the season and complained about his playing time in San Diego.

who cares....this is the least of the pats problems

Kick returning, WR depth and return coverage is the least of the Pats problems? Guess you haven't been paying attention to the same Pats team.

I watched more than you

I wouldn't sweat the special teams with the defensive unit we currently have........we could pin opponents inside their 5 every time and BB would still be going for it on 4th down at his end of the field when he has the lead

you can't sweat special teams when YOU CAN'T EVEN FIELD A DEFENSE....and right now, the pats can't even put a group of LB's on the field........2 of the 4 guys they have under contract right now have never played because of injury

yeah......special teams is a need, but that's like worrying about the roof when you don't have a foundation

need a speedster and a jack of all trades as a KR/PR/Flex guy.. I think Gilyard fits that bill.

are you serious??

this guy is good, he is a solid reciever, not a stud reciever, but a reciever. And is crazy on STs, and is Cheap.
I would love to have him.

IIRC correctly, Osgood was *****ing in the offseason a few years ago because he wanted to be given a shot at WR instead of used exclusively for ST. My guess is he will go to a team that will best give him that shot. But yeah, basically he is a better version of Sam Aiken.

He and Sam Aiken play different special teams positions. For instance, Osgood is a punt team gunner while Aiken is a personal protector.

he has 2 punt returns in he's Career. and i don't know if he ever returned a kick. he has 5 rec in the last 5 years. so he is not a WR. he is just a gunner. he is pretty much larry izzo, the pats all redy have a good kick and punt return covrage team. he is going to get paid at lest 2 million a year. from san diego. or some other team. just to be a gunner.

the pats have a lot of draft picks and most of them will be ST players so there is no need at all for Kassim Osgood,

If the price is right I want him aboard, if Aiken is a poor man's Osgood than Osgood would be an upgrade.

Bring him on!

ummm, the whole wearing a Pats cap is alittle over the top, LOL

yea its true, but the guy was messing around....he also at the same time had pitt, oakland and ravens gear on

Aiken was bad this past season. Bring in Osgood to push Aiken at # 3 WR. Osgoods highest numbers were when SD was LT heavy on offense. I'd like to see Brady throwing him the ball in the spread.

NFL

For everyone who posted the Pats could use Osgood as a "KR/PR" type, or even as a WR, consider this:

He has zero career kick returns.

He has two career punt returns.

He's 6-foot-5.

He has 5 career receptions.

He's the best special teamer/gunner in the world, but he's not a returner, or a wide receiver. Period.

How about a guy named Brandon Tate?
