The Bucs 3rd pick would be a nice starting point.

yea it would, but the globe is saying the bucs 2nd rounder and a fifth if it would happen.

Would a top-10 pick be considered a "value" pick by the Patriots, or not?

I read the article. They're kidding themselves if that's considered value for the Patriots.

Vince better be careful, he's still under contract.

I can't imagine anyone who cares about football willingly playing for Tampa.

But it may be a good idea to non exclusive tag the big guy and let him test his own market. I think he'd find it fairly limited in 2010 even absent draft compensation... Teams handing out double digit bonuses and guaranteed money heading into 2011 will be few and far between. There will be more teams dumping salary than adding massive amounts of it.

I'd take Tampa's 2nd this year and a swap of 1's in 2011...:D

I agree. This is all speculation right now. When the free agent market opens thats when we will know whats going on!!!

Larger men would prefer the heat?

There's no way Vince is going to pick his own destination, worst case scenerio we tag him then ship him OUT of the divison and ideally, conference.

It goes on to say :

"Not sure that would be enough for Wilfork, but could be a starting point."

The #2 this year would be attractive - add in something next year and I'm all ears. MoLewisrocks idea of swapping #1s would be sick but probably not realistic - having the Raiders and Bucs #1s next year . . . :singing:

Completely agree. The Pats in are control of Vince and where he plays. He cannot pick where he goes.

The Pats and Vince will figure something out. He is too good of a player and Wilfork loves NE too much for the two sides not to come to some sort of agreement. This deal will get done, just give it time. Worst case scenario he is franchised.

The draft is a crapshoot while Wilfork is a PROVEN top player.

Well if you're talking Top 10, I trust Belichick to make the right pick.

He has both times (Seymour / Mayo)

As much as I like Vince I could be tempted if Tampa were to make a sweet offer.

Wilfork's contract is up. He's due to be a free agent. If that happens, he can pick his own destination and the Patriots will have no say in the matter.

The Pats are still in control of him with the use of the franchise tag. He is still property of the Patriots unless they dont slap the franchise tag on him or dont resign him, then he will become a free agent.

The only way we could ever get offers from other teams is if we franchised Wilfork. This was brought up with Tom E. Curran today and his franchise tag would carry over to the other team and he couldnt see a team offering a first rounder for him. He could see a 2nd and possibly a 4th. Definitely not worth it, just resign him.

Re: Wilfork says he wouldnt mind playing for the Bucs or Dolfoons.

getting picks is nice but young talent on good contracts is better imho. It's more certain. draft is hit and miss, doesn't matter where you pick really.

Imagine two top-10 picks in the 2011 draft. BB would be lynched if he traded out of them.

Didn't know the Globe did trade negotiations for the Pats. I am guessing that Belichick is not letting Wilfork go for less than a first. A first and a third if it it to the Dolphins.
