We love trades, as we should. However, they are extremely speculative. It might be interesting for us to consider a no-draft mock for our first four picks.

Esch at Hubble has us taking
Spiller RB
Graham DE
Hardy DE
Hernadez TE

Perfect if we get the right FA's. A few wideouts and an ILB.

Spiller and Graham are home runs at 22 and 44 given no trades and who else is available. Hardy is a bit risky, but the talent is there. Hernandez is good value at 53, if we don't go OL (Maurkice Pouncey, Vlad Ducasse and Mike Johnson are all available).

Overall, possibly the best 2 round mock I've seen.

Esch seems to be doing well this year (that is, he's agreeing with us).

Also, I would note that if Spiller isn't there, it would possibly mean that Bulaga, Odrick or Iupati dropped to be available at 22.

I also agree that the choice at 53 would be between Hernandez and an OL. I think that this choice will depend on which position is filled in free agency. I would hope that we would fill one of the two.

Corey Wootten
Brandon Ghee
Aurrelious Benn

I'll take Esch's mock.

BTW, I can't see Brian Price falling past 20, much less to 43.

I would expect 2-3 free agent wide receivers.

The need at ILB is one primarily recognized on this board. I expect that we will bring in the usual set of suspects to compete for a roster spot and reps. For now, we have Mayo, Guyton, McKenzie and Alexander.

It is this board who thinks that our DROY playing injured isn't good enough to play his position in the future and the Guyton and McKenzie will not be good enough to play the other side (perhaps after competing with a free agent).

Sure we could sign Dansby. I suspect there will be lots of high-priced free agents who would be upgrades over our signed players at almost every position expect QB. That doesn't mean that we will sign any of them, except at wide receiver where there is a critical need for a starter, rather than a perceived wish for an upgrade.

Perfect if we get the right FA's. A few wideouts and an ILB.

That is the great thing about this draft, if some guys go higher than expected then some talented guys fall, and if everybody goes as predicted, we still get 4 really good red chip prospects.

Guys picked in the fifth round this year, could have been 3rd rounders last year.

I think it's an extremely small minority on this board who think that Mayo isn't good enough to play his position in the future. But that's a different issue from Mayo playing the Mike, which isn't his natural position, and to which neither Guyton nor McKenzie is particularly naturally suited either. McKenzie is perhaps the best suited of the 3 to playing SILB, but he is on the small side and hasn't proven that he can take the pounding.

I certainly have not studied this enough to be able to judge the 5th round or later picks copared to last year's value. For me, these late pcisk are always a bonus if they make the team, and Belichick alswasy seems to find at least two for the roster in last three rounds or among the UDFA's. Last year was a bonanza with three such picks plus Hoyer and Lockett.

That being said, we should be able to get a 2009 3rd round quality player at 118 and with other 4th rounders we might acquire.

That's pretty close to correct. And last year was considered a deep draft. Certainly 4th rounders, and possibly some 5th rounders. The number of draft slots is fixed, and you can't squeeze all the talent into 100 picks this year.

I admit it. I am not a Mayo fan.

The bottom line is that Mayo does not make many big plays. I am talking about TFL's, Interceptions, FF or even Passes defensed. I could even argue that he does bring a lot of wood on his hits.

Some may say that he is playing out of position or that he was hurt and warriored his way through the season, but the reality is; if you are on the field for all those snaps, you would think that you could at least "luck" your way into a couple of big plays.

However IF BB thinks he is a player then BB the GM needs to do a better job or tailoring this defense to fit Mayo's style.

First BB the GM needs to realize that Mayo's strength is his ability to run and that Mayo is not a thumper. Therefore BB the GM needs to put some serious beef in the D Line in order to allow Mayo the freedom to roam sidleine to sideline making plays at or near the LOS.

In my perfect world it all starts with Mt. Cody in the middle.

Is this year the largest amount of underclassmen ever? Last year was 46, this year is 53. That's an insane amount of talent in the first 2 rounds.

This year is tied with 2008 at 53 underclassmen.

I woudn't mine these guys in the first 2 rounds and grab a few FA WR's.

Sergio Kindle (OLB – U. Texas)
Greg Hardy (DE – Ole Miss)
Jahvid Best (RB – Cal)
Vladimir Ducasse (G/T – Umass)

I'll take Esch's mock.
I'd take it too, but I can't see Spiller being there at #22 or Graham at #42. If so, that would be amazing.
