Kiper on how the Pats can earn an "A" from him

I think we've all criticized this enough already. But here comes half success, half EPIC FAIL:

Second-round options (44, 47, 53): DE Greg Hardy, RB Ryan Mathews, OT Charles Brown, LB Sean Weatherspoon, WR Brandon LaFell, WR Damian Williams, QB Tim Tebow

I agree with Kiper that the Pats would more likely focus on a more-downfield threat than a slot receiver.

At least his argument related to Tebow is "He'd be a bad value here, and I highly doubt it, but hey, they have three picks ..."

Mel seems to know the Pats needs though, I'm sure the Patriots peculiar way of drafting in the past has peaked his interest and he has probably taken a more in depth approach on how he analyzes our team.

Personally, for me, it is way to early to criticize Kiper's choices of individual players.

However, it does seem reasonable to criticize his priorities. His first two choices are OLB and DE. It's hard to disagree although most would her would not choose Sapp and Hardy. Most of us would be consider an OLB and DE reasonable additions. We could simply write in the best available OLB and DE that fits our system. There would be less disagreement. I have presumed that since DE is listed first among the 2nd round choices, that one would be drafted somewhere in the 2nd (or 1st).

Who cares what Kiper thinks. I don't. Mel Kiper hasn't gotten a single Patriots 1st round pick correct to my knowledge. And he looks absolutely perplexed every time he gets it wrong.

So, we shouldn't read Kiper because he has little inside information or reasonable analysis regarding the patriots. OK, you can make your choice. There are hundreds of mocks. His is one that has reasonable insights with regard to the draft, even if he cannot predict patriot picks. He is almost always in the top 10 in his drafts, and he has early mocks.

Obviously if all you want in the best mock and the best prediction of patriot picks, than you need to ignore all the early mocks and read only Gosselin's columns.

WTF is it with you? It seems that ANY time someone throws something out there, yoiu have to go an exaggerate it 10 fold.

Draft Grades don't mean a damn thing,. So why should anyone care what Kiper has to say on how the Pats can get an "A" from him?

BB knows exactly what he's looking for. The problem is if he doesn't see it, I don't think they know what to do because they only look for that certain kind of player. They don't think outside the box. I hope going forward there will be a bit more flexibility in their thinking.

I also hope your right. We all know our needs so lets address them this draft.

As far as Kiper; he knows players and can rattle off their stat's but I agree with those who saaid... Has he ever been correct on our picks?

I do not think BB has had many bad picks. I think a lot of his picks have not been able to crack our roster because until 2009 it had been stocked with some serious talent.

Not that I want to put the blame on Pioli, but last year was a great draft without Scott. Maybe, it's addition through subtraction and the drafting will continue to improve.

I'm sure that BB could care less about 'earning an A' from some 'mock draft guru'. The Pats have always used their own in house scouting rather than national scout services, so their draft board and opinions on players can vary widely from those of other teams. I'd say 2009 draft looks like a success so far just from the guys that were able to contribute. I'm not even counting the redshirt injury guys or Brace, whom I admit doesn't look like much right now.

I'd just like the Pats 2010 draft to address the passrush need, whatever position is drafted - ilb/olb/de/dt etc. Drafts vary in year to year in terms of talent but hopefully more people who fit BB's physical and talent mold are available and will be taken early and often by the Pats.
