Pats play on Thanksgiving in 2010?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lions' 2010 schedule will include Thanksgiving matchup against either Patriots or Jets

The Detroit Lions' opponents for the 2010 season already have been determined and Detroit will host either the New England Patriots or New York Jets on Thanksgiving.

In the rotating schedule, it's time for an AFC team to visit Detroit and those are the only two AFC teams the Lions will host next season.

Jets suck on TDay games, I hope the Pats get this one.

It would be nice to be able to enjoy football on Thanksgiving again for once.

It's irritated me how even with Dallas being a strong team they still manage to have the weakest lineups on Tgiving

I am sure there was a thread about this a few months ago. Saying that the Pats were likely to get it.

I think Jerry Jones likes it that way.

Yeah, here's hoping the Pats get that game and then host the Green Beans after 10 days' rest.

Until people have a credible alternative, why should the NFL change? They can schedule Detroit v. Tampa Bay and it'll still get good ratings.

Because I said so...

ow that I'm older and am constantly hosting non-football loving friends for Thanksgiving I thank god that, a. the Lions stink and so I wouodn't bother watching the game anyway, and that b. the Patriots won't be playing.

Please oh please let the Patriots avoid the T-giving game.

Against Dallas a few years ago. The Pats will be playing on Thanksgiving

Count me among those who would love to have the Pats play on Thanksgiving! Everyone in my family loves football and we'd welcome the chance to watch a game we care about for once in a blue moon!!

You may be confusing it with the exact same thread 3 years ago for a potential Thanksgiving matchup against the Cowboys, saying the Pats were likely to get it :D

I think it is more the league than Jerry Jones. When you have a captive audience, go ahead and give them a crappy game because they'll watch anyway. Save the good games for a more competitive time slot.

I think there's a 99.9% chance that we play turkey day. Here's why:

1) Detroit and Dallas alternate hosting NFC and AFC opponents each year. The lions played tennessee in 08, and detroit is playing the AFC East this year.

2)They host two team in 2010 from the AFC, Jets and Pats. Jets played Dallas in 07, so there's little chance they play again (that chance being the .01%)

3)Look at it from CBS's perspective. Who would you rather have kicking the crap out of Detroit? Sanchez and brick-handed Braylon, or Tom Frickin' Brady shredding the defense with Randy Moss, Edelman, and (if he's back in time) Welker. Pats=ratings, even on thanksgiving and even against crappy opponents.

New York would give high ratings too. Besides, Thanksgiving games get huge numbers anyway. You'd have the top two qb's from last year's draft, a seemingly up and coming team, and you know Rex would say SOMETHING worth talking about.

I wouldn't mind if the Pats played on Thanksgiving but could do without it as well. I watch anyway.
