Pats 2011 pick from Oakland

Is anybody in this draft worth giving that pick up? I only ask because it is very possible Oakland could have the first pick in the 2011 draft which could involve slotting rookie pay. My ideal scenario would be for the Pats to keep that pick and have a legitimate shot at Jake Locker from Washington. Have him learn under Brady for a couple of years, and then have him move into the starting role. The idea of having a top of the line drop back passer who runs a 4.4 learning from Brady is something we should all be excited about. I don't think anyone in this draft is worth giving up that potential chance. If we want to give up our own 2011 pick, I have no problem with that, but I would really like to have a serious shot at Locker.

The ideal scenario would as you mentioned above. But, we don't draft Locker. We trade the 1st overall to a crappy team in need of a qb picking about 5th. Let's say Seattle. We get their 1st in 2011 and their 1st in 2012 like the Eli Manning trade. We still get our defensive stud or wr. And, we have a good shot at a top pick in 2012. Richard Seymour=Could become the gift that keeps on giving.

Brady's replacement is just finishing his freshman year of HIGH SCHOOL. Brady will play at a very high level for another 6-8 years before hanging them up in the HOF. We don't need to become like other teams by deperately taking a high 1st round QB. They will likely draft another late round or UFA QB and seeing if they find another gem but that's it.

I agree. The time frame might be a little optimistic but as long as Brady doesn't suffer another major injury, there is no reason he can't be an elite player until his mid-late 30s.

As for drafting a QB in the first round, that's probably the worst decision this franchise could make. While not knowing the future cap situation makes things difficult, adding a top 5 pick who is a QB will require a contract similar to Brady's i n annual valueand locking up that many resources in one position is foolish.

My hope is that they take that the CBA gets worked out, the Raiders blow in 2010, and we use their pick to draft Mark Ingram out of Alabama.

Let's deal that pick for the Massachusetts Gatoraid Player of the Year, an award that is normally set aside for the greatest Division 1 HS senior was deservedly gift wrapped and handed out to this great sophomore. Lock him up now BB !

QB - Nick "All World" LaSpada from Billerica. The kid the whole state is raving about as well as the scouts.

This phenom should be ready to step in just as Brady walks off into the sunset, he's a projected 5-Star recruit, lock him up now !

I feel the same way. Peterson is the next Revis or Champ Bailey. Him and Butler would be studs in our secondary. That's why I don't think it's essential to pay Bodden top dollar if we are targeting this guy next year with that pick. Peterson, Butler, Wilhite would be a sick top 3 corners.

There's no way I want Jake Locker. THe guy has a big arm but he turns the ball over too much. He makes too many bad decisions for my liking. BB said the two most important aspects of drafting a QB are accuracy and decision making. I'd rather have a guy like Sam Bradford than Jake Locker at this point.

Even if Peterson is gone by the time we are picking, I'd rather use that pick on Green, Jones, FLoyd, or Baldwin. Gamebreakers at WR who can take over for Moss. Why waste a high first round pick on a guy that will just sit on the bench for a few years? What a waste of a pick.
