He was a first round pick and seems certain to slip now to the 2nd.

Woudn't you think someone close to him or the team with WISE him up.
Get a trainer for a few months and get in football shape .

The question isn't if he gets drafted or if he's a bust but where he gets drafted. Go in the first or early 2nd young man and you have it made and than you can go eat! Do I hear 400 by the draft?

Amazing how dumb they are.

Mount Cody is even bigger

Anyone else hoping for a shirtless 40 ala Andre Smith?

Between Andre Smith and Terrance Cody, you really have to wonder about Alabama's conditioning program.

Now the big question. Is he just another overweight player who is going to get a huge payday? Or is this someone who has Ted Washington, Sean Gilbert potential? We'll find out a lot about him here very soon.

He played this season at 385. I fail to see the issue.

I'm sure a poster of your fortitude and experience doesn't need reminding of this, but playing against College O-lines and NFL O-lines are two vastly different things.

I'm sure he's not, but the pictures of him yesterday made him look like a lazy fat slob, like Andre Smith last year.

He needs to lose weight, a lot of it. Maybe as much as 35lbs.

Most of us assume that the Patriots will franchise Wilfork. If
they feel he will be unhappy and a distraction, they may trade
him. In this instance, Cody may be their #1 pick and he and
Brace will compete at nose tackle.

I think his best playing weight is probably 345-360. If he comes into the pre-season at 355, I'd expect him to be just fine.

I'm not saying 370 is ideal, I'm saying it's less than he played this season at, according to sources at Alabama. So if he lost 15 pounds over the last few months in getting ready for his pro career, it sort of contradicts that he's been lazy and is irresponsible for not getting into shape for his Senior Bowl weigh-in.

Not to mention that he may be 370, but it's a ROCK HARD 370, lol.

He's just a big fat guy albeit with some athletic ability. He gets gassed easily and 4th quarter time is pretty useless. He does push the pocket back though.

I think we dump Wilfork for picks, play more 4-3 (hopefully Brace can learn this) and be done with it. Wilfork was only a 2 down player and he did get smashed to pieces against baltimore in our embarassing playoff loss.

Wilfork was also playing on a flat tire.

I'm not overly concerned about Cody's conditioning at this point in the process, I think any kid who reportedly came to Alabama over 400 lbs and who weighed in at the Senior Bowl at 370 has been moving in the right direction. Weight loss is tricky, especially if you are going to need a certain amount of sand and strength to hold your own against double and triple teams.

I have no doubt BB has the straight skinny on the kid and can make this decision based on good information.

Thank you BOR! You are the voice of reason.

Newsflash - Mt. Cody is not being drafted to be a male underwear model. He's being drafted to handle double and triple teams (600 to 900 plus pounds of human flesh) in the trenches without moving backwards. Small guys, even strong small guys, need not apply.

There is a reason McClain and Hightower and other Alabama defenders can roam sideline to sideline making plays, it is because a sloppy and slobby 400 plus pounder, (at times) with an incredibly wide backside on huge tree stumps for thighs, was clogginf traffic better than anybody I've ever seen play in college.

PS: I saw Cody in a T shirt and shorts when he first arrived at Alabama and that was about 50 more pounds; AT LEAST; horrible than the weigh in. He has made huge strides and maybe if he had gotten to Tuscaloosa as a freshman, things could be different for him. Doubt it, but maybe.

"Biggest Loser" candidate if he didnt play football. Since he does play football, he's a beast!

Ron Brace weighed 330# at 6'3", and the general concensus was he need to add another 15-20# for his frame.

Cody is never going to be drafted as a quick, penetrating DT, and he certainly won't be drafted for how he looks in a bikini. He's an immovable object who chews up double teams and frees up other guys. I'm sure his playing weight should be in the 340-365 range. Where exactly is unclear. It's a fine line between not having enough "sand" to be an effective run stopper and eating your way out of shape, and possibly out of the league. But don't discount Cody because of how he looks at a weigh-in.

I must say I don't get it. Mount Cody has been an interesting player over the past two years precisely because he was huge. I wouldn't be surprised if he can be in game shape at 360-370. That being said, I'd rather draft Williams, but that is ebcause I want to keep Wilfork.

I will be more interested in his measurables at the combine. It will be clear then whether or not he is a fat slob or an NFL athlete. But I agree, big deal about his weight and appearance.

Cody was reportedly "depressed" over his 370 lb. weigh in at the Senior Bowl and is aiming to get down to 345 by the combine:

I find this a bit concerning. That's a lot of weight to lose fast without losing strength, and I would think 345 is the low end of where Cody can play effectively. I'm guessing that 345-365 is optimal for him, and much lower than 345 and he'll lose his biggest advantage, of being an immovable object. He's not being draft for how he looks in underwear, after all.
