Gasper: Patriots are feeling Colts' draft

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

Wow.

Be prepared to duck.

I could have written that myself, I agree with it so much. All the BB is great at drafting and player development. Really? Really? Are you sure? Doesn't look like it from here.

Colts OL is 4th rounders and below!

Their defense I knew is a bunch of low round guys. That's just amazing what it says about their organization.

Please can we get one of their guys to be our OC?

Maybe BB can learn something from their D?

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

After watching the Colts advance to their second Super Bowl in four seasons yesterday with an impressive 30-17 victory over Vociferous Rex and the Jets, the question for the Patriots is plain to see: How do they go about catching up with the Colts?

How does a team who's won 3 Superbowls in 4 years "catch up" to a team who's going to their second in four seasons.

He's really not worth the click. imho of course.

Sorry, that doesn't work any more. Since we last won the SB the Steelers have won 2 and the Colts are positioned to possibly win their 2nd. We're behind. Get real, and get used to it.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

That is bull, IMO.

They wasted a 1st round pick on a 2nd string RB in one of the worst ground games in the NFL.

When you have Clark and Wayne, along with Peyton Manning throwing you the ball, Garcon and Collie will make plays.

The Pats drafted a good WR in Julian Edelman, who I think is better and has way more potential then Collie. Garcon seems to be like David Givens, a good, reliable option but not a superstar.

Sebastian Vollmer, Julian Edelman, Darius Butler, Patrick Chung, Pryor> Brown, Collie, Garcon, Powers.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

It's all about Manning, without him that team is 4-12 and Garcon and Collie are practice squad players.

Manning is top notch and makes that team much better than it really is.

BB has not drafted well, that's obvious.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

I don't know why I even bothered clicking the link to read that crap.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

Why is it crap? Its basicallly tells the truth! The dolts are the best run franchise.U wonder how much losing Pioli will hurt this franchise.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

Good article. I know a lot of people are going to hate it because it's not what they want to hear and will bash Gasper.

Some key points to take into consideration:

That's a game the Patriots have lost to the Colts the last few years and it is the primary reason they watched yesterday's AFC Championship game from their living rooms while confetti rained down upon the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
I don't think the Pats seem to care. I used to think Brady was the best competitor in football like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are to basketball. I just don't see that in Brady anymore.
The Colts have signed a total of five veteran free agents since 2004.
That is an amazing stat! Indy is a small market and can't attract big name free agents and have to rely on solid drafting. As much as Polin is a prick, he's done one heck of a job drafting every year.
Somewhere along the way the Patriots' lost their way and became too reliant on veteran help. Plugging holes with veterans will work for a while, but it's like putting buckets on the floor for a leaky ceiling -- it's a quick solution for a deeper problem.
This has been their problem for the last 5 years. They trade out of rounds for no reason but sign over the hill LB', DB's, WR's, you name it.

You don't see his math's off? Three SB's in four years vs two SB's in four years ( technically only two appearances, the Colts haven't won it yet:rolleyes:). So you tell me, who's catching up to who exactly.

There are a lot of posters on this forum who cannot realize that

the Patriot's Superbowl wins are Ancient History. I'm an old duck who

hopes he can see one more Superbowl win in his lifetime.

you do realize Pioli was here for all of the "terrible" drafts over the past few years, right? and in his first season as the Chief's GM the best player to come out of their draft has been a kicker.

I agree 100%.... The Colts success is from the performance of Peyton Manning.

The Colts have done a good job with productive late round picks, but
they have also their share of busts...

Anthony Gonxalez - 1st round pick.... Has done very little before this years
injury.

They traded away a future 1st round piick to draft OT Ugoh early in the
2nd round. He has been a bust.

Garcon & Collie have decent stats, but they both drop a lot of balls.

The Patriots are having a down year and the Colts are going to the superbowl, so it is easy to pick on the Pats.

Why don't Gasper go look at the stats of 7th round draft pick David Givens in the playoffs compared to 1st round pick Marvin Harrison.

Harrison may be a future hall of famer, but he was a playoff flop.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

Down year?I felt they needed to clean house when it came to the OC and DC.Brady had a great season stats wise but it was kind of inconsistent at times!Mine u that he threw 6 td passes against the titans who where horrible at that time. This team needs to also get away with the dink and the dunk to Welker.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

I would not call Anthony Gonzalez a bust yet.

Because every year is the same as the next. The Patriots perform the Colts are chasing the Patriots. The Colts perform the Patriots are chasing the Colts.

I realize where the Patriots have 'missed' in drafting and free agent acquisitions and I also realize where we've 'hit' so to speak.

BB won 3 SB's with a core of players on defense that are all gone and should have been replaced 3 years ago and now they are paying for it.

like mayo said the steelers have won 2 and the colts should win there 2th SB and in the time the pats have 0 super bowl wins

This says it all. We PASS on talent we can use because we may get more
VALUE in a later round.
This has been our problem imo and why we lack any real playmakers.

Re: Gasper:patriots are feeling Colts' draft

It's not just the trading back it's the lack of talent in identifying players. If you trade back you must think that player (Clay matthews) isn't worth picking there, instead you go back a few slots and choose Patrick Chung?

They traded up for Chad Jackson.

Atleast grab a Revis type if you are going to do such a thing.
