Nobody can sign a FA until March 5 but....are teams talking to FA's now?

Is there a lot of stuff going on now behind the scenes we don't know about.
thanks

Teams are not supposed to talk to players until that date. But you know how it is. People inside the org have people that dont work there relay messages to agents saying they might be interested at x amount of dollars and years. Its how it always is.

Does that apply to their own FAs?

No, BB and the coaching staff are on a 10 day vacay. Apparently BB had called a few free agents and told them they will start negotiations begin in Feb.

And, for the record, there is, as near as I can tell, no restriction on a team having negotiations with its own impending free agents at any time.

I said the exact same thing in not so many words.

A bit of clarification never hurt - some of our fellow posters can be as sharp as a box of rocks...or so I've heard.

If that's true it amazing that hours AFTER FA starts some teams sign a player.
That's some fast negoitations on both sides :)
thanks

Will some team offer somebody an Albert Hanyesworth type deal this year? I can't see BB doing that, but anything is possible.

Last year BB had some success with mid level FA's. I would like to see him continue that this off season.

The twist to all this that's unique to this off-season is, with no CBA and no cap, teams can cut guys (who they feel they're overpaying) with no cap consequences. Lotsa rumors surrounding that consideration (e.g., Chargers rumored to be dumping Cromartie).
