Like the look of our red throwback jerseys, but they sure don't bring any good luck with them do they...

Re: At least we won't see the throwacks for a while

No but we will see the new alternate jerseys, :).

I personally love the throwbacks and I don't buy into the whole "jerseys affect a team's play" mentality. The Jets, Bills, Hawks and Broncos to name a few have changed and updated their uniforms plenty of times and their fortunes haven't changed for the better (in the Bills' case it's gotten worse). I know they represent an era when the Patriots weren't exactly a powerhouse but there's nothing wrong with remembering your history. I love the modern uniforms but I think the team should have something in place where we wear the throwbacks for a few games a season, like the Steelers, Broncos and Bills do.

Besides, this year the team played the greatest game in franchise history (statiscally speaking) in the throwbacks

The team just sucked this year, really had nothing to do with with uniform choice.

Wait, are the Pats getting new alternates next year.

Yeah, like many others have said already--I don't buy into the whole "bad luck throwback" theory.

Not only did we have one of our best games in franchise history this year, but we would've went 3-0 in the reds, had it not been for a 1 pt loss to Miami. The whites were worn in the FG loss in OT at Denver, so that's not really telling me that the team plays poorly in them either.

Like most issues, some feel one way, some feel another way. Personally, I wouldn't mind the team breaking them out once or twice a year, like someone else mentioned.

If anyone has any info on the status of new alternates, please post a link or picture--thnx.

I was under the impression the throwbacks are our new alternate jersey...

I thought the Pats only lost 1 game with the throwbacks this year?

The throwbacks look clunky and are bad mojo. Burn them.

Word.

Besides, what's with red anyway. The redcoats, the lobsterbacks, the bad guys wore red in the Revolution. Wearing red as patriots is ...well, unpatriotic.

Can we see that online somewhere? Link? I remember about a year or a year and a half ago, there was this cool alternate jersey similiar in design to our home jersey, but had more red mix into it. It was designed by a fan and posted on ProSPortsdaily.com

They were supposed to wear them 4 times total this year, 2 reds at home (BUF,TEN) and 2 whites on the road (DEN,MIA). Because the MIA game was moved from primetime to 1 o'clock, the Fins decided they'd rather wear their whites due to heat issues etc, which caused the Pats to wear the reds instead--even though it was a road game.

In the 3x they wore the reds, they went 2-1, with the lone loss to MIA 22-21.

In the only time they wore the whites (at DEN) they lost in OT by a FG.

Technically, they went 2-2 in the throwbacks:

W vs BUF 25-24 (reds)
L at DEN 20-17 OT (whites)
W vs TEN 59-0 (reds)
L at MIA 22-21 (reds)

Personally, I think that a mediocre year simply coincided with the AFL anniversary, leading some to think the throwbacks carry "bad mojo." I think if the 06 or 07 team used them, it wouldn't be such a topic. But like I said before, everyone is going to have their own opinion, so there is no right/wrong. I am just stating my opinion, which is also taking into account that many were outright clamoring for them the past few years.

I don't really believe that a 1 pt win + a 1 pt loss, coupled with a 59-0 blowout and a OT loss tell us enough one way or another. I tend to think that it was more of a coincidence than a trend. IMO, they could've worn 18k gold jerseys this year, and probably still have gone 10-6.

They went 2-2 (won vs. BUF and TEN, lost at DEN and MIA)

but still, I wouldn't blame that on the jersey. In fact, it mirrors our home success vs. road woes more than any 'jersey impact'.

It's called "taking it back":D

The red throwbacks are rightous, they should be our official alternate jersey (with some minor tweaking). Our problems were not because of the damn jersey but rather the same things that caused the generally mediocre play.

I'm pretty sure they haven't been unveiled yet, I've only heard talk about them. Apparently they're replacing the alternate "silver" jerseys which they were never satisfied with.

With that signature of BB wearing a Red hoody in the worst day of Patriots history :mad::mad:

If they're going to do Pat instead of Elvis, I wish they'd put the blue stripe back on the helmet.

I liked the red throwbacks :( We should make em our normal uniforms but keep the current away ones. Who needs to be consistent? ;)

People forgot the throwback Patriot Pat winter hat BB was wearing at the playoff game against Baltimore......not a good result

My g/f spent weeks on back order at the pro shop, trying to get that tossel hat. Living down here in Pittsburgh, (sigh) she spent days calling all of the sporting goods stores in the Boston area--finally after a month, a new shipment came in the proshop.

Just in time for the BAL playoff shelling.

Now I have to see it every day, it'll always remind me of that playoff game--but it's still a pretty nice hat regardless.
