I am very curious as to how all see the future for this team.
the board has been very negative and I would like to see if everyone is as gloomy as the threads

The team will certainly try to improve. How much? Who knows.

Ask the board 1 hr before the 1st game of the 2010 season. IMO it impossible to answer in late Jan.

We have coaches to hire, an entire FA period and the draft. How could anyone possibly make an educated guess at this point?

I would guarantee they will improve, I really think BB learned from this season and will fix most of the issues. Yup, I'm still drinking the kool-aid.

Time to retool and go after the Green Gluttons.

wayyyyy too early. I woul hope they go better than 10-6 and win in the playoffs. But there are too many undetermined factors.

You should ask this AFTER the draft and trading is done

I will have to say 8-8 or 9-7 in a rebuilding phase, especially on defense..the offense should be easier to fix quicker

..I think the team gets a shot at a wild card but the Jets seem to be the sexy choice for AFC East leader right now and the Pats should be fighting the Phins for 2nd place.

Once again though...its WAYYYYY too early for this stuff...the Jets could lose Revis and/or Jones and suddenly the whole East landscape thing changes.

They have the core there to succeed still. Good ownership, elite coach, elite QB. If they re-sign the cornerstone of their D in Wilfork and are aggressive in free agency, they'll be SB contenders next season.

A lil early for this I think.
Many things to do between now and then, so I couldn't give a clue.......HOPEFULLY > 10-6

WRS
LBS
DL
OL
Coaches

Many things need work :ugh::scream:

I think the 09' Pats under performed from what they were capable of. And I can't see Bill letting this team slip any further.

They aren't too far off...

They have some well-identified holes to fill and the means to fill them through FA and the draft. The nucleus is there, sign their own impact FA's add 2 to 3 impact players for pass rush and 2-3 solid players at WR and OL. Solidify the coaches and this team should be very good to elite next yr.

BB knows better than anyone here what needs to be done and, imo, he will do it

Exactly. I selected the first option just to have a positive outlook on things. Honestly, the team could go either way.

Based on where they stand today:

A 12 to 14 win team is not all that far away, possible with the right moves.
A 6 to 8 win team is not all that far away, possible with the wrong moves.

The offseason needs to be completed to answer this question.

This question is impossible to answer. Without knowing what the roster will look like, who they picked up in the draft, and what FA they signed this is a pointless exercise.

EDIT: I guess I should have read the thread before chiming in. Oh well.

They will be lucky to go 8-8
Brutal schedule next year
Way too many question marks and holes to fill
Players and coaches alike.

If BB pulls off a playoff run it would be his supreme coaching achievement

Im not going to vote until the Pats make some moves.

Didn't like any of the options presented - its way too early to be that specific, but if there was a voting button for "not a losing record" I would choose that one.

I always find it interesting that BB doesn't really know what kind of team he has got until well after the season has started, because it really depends on the team chemistry and how it develops through the adversity, challenges and outcomes of the games themselves.

I suspect he sees himself as a bit of an alchemist in search of the Superbowl gold and he is constantly rearranging the pieces until the fabulous transmutation occurs. This season proved that all too often the transmutation turned to lead rather than anything approximating precious metal. The flatness of the team in early season, the lack of commitment on and off the field, culminating in the 4 being sent home. The one ingredient that promised to turn the season, Welker, evaporated in an injury sustained in an uncontested cut on the playing field.

Next year? The alchemist will be back at work with his alembic, crucible and retorts and a little wiser from this years failures. We still have to see what materials he has to distill from the draft and free agency. We will have to wait on the first fires of the Training Camp and we will need to be patient as the team starts to gel and establish its unique identity.

And even if it all comes together and the team is one of the greatest yet assembled, it will still need that unquantifiable element called luck. We have ridden some bad luck since the last SB, and hopefully that cycle is changing.

So I will predict a winning record and with a little bit of luck possibly something super!!!

You're upper-middle class during the weeks, then you're droppin your "R"s and you're hangin in the big, bad Southie projects with your daddy, the ****** donkey on the weekends. I got that right?
