Re: *****Pete Sheppard Fired from WEEI *******

I liked pete, he'll end up at98.5

Re: *****Pete Sheppard Fired from WEEI *******

Too bad, hate to see anyone lose their job in this economic climate. Pete was good when he was the host of the show. Like when Glen was on one of his many vacations. I think he must get 12 weeks a year.

Re: *****Pete Sheppard Fired from WEEI *******

I am shocked. It will be interesting to see where he goes, I dont know where he'd fit on 98.5. I say Butch Sterns would be the fill in for the Big O when he goes away.

Re: *****Pete Sheppard Fired from WEEI *******

I know WEEI can get to the point of almost un-listenable, but I liked Pete. I ran into him at one of the bars near the Garden and chewed the fat a little. Nice guy. Great guy to talk sports with.

Best of luck, Pete.

Good sports guy...

Bad at picking out names for dogs...

Isn't EEI all politics now?

Well, lets put it this way, the Sox aren't playing, the Pats are out of the playoffs, the Celts are very meh and don't have as big a fanbase as the Sox and Pats and the Bruins...well, they're still the Bruins.

Add a major political race to fill an important Senate seat to the sports doldrums and you have a lot of politics talk.

I've felt for a while now that Pete could host his own show. Hopefully this will allow him that opportunity now.

Re: *****Pete Sheppard Fired from WEEI *******

They've been adding some talent probably due to it's availability and the need to match up against competition in the ratings. Pete is harmless but also talentless. As they get away from comic relief sidekick it's no surprise he would be gone. Meter should be next.

Glen is blaming the economy, but that's just because he's been on his politics bent for the last couple of days. He has Perillo and McAdam on but he is insisting everyone wants to talk politics today. Pete apparently lost his job because of Obama or Bush depending on who you blame the economy on...and not 98.5.

Actually, this is pretty funny listening. McAdam is an above average foil for Glen's bs bully pulpit, Perillo is apparently curled up in the corner trying to avoid collateral damage...

Half hour in still no farewell to Pete...

Glen says WEEI has been hit by the economy. The company is going to outsource the flashes as they do with their other shows. Glen is now lauding his unique character adding to the growth of the program and hopefully if the economy comes back things will change...
Of course if Glen really wanted to he could do what Sean Payton did in NO....;)

Doubt if he will do that... one good thing is that there will be one less person trying to talk louder than the other...

First, I'm sorry to hear about Sheppard losing his job. Seemed like a nice enough guy, and frankly, the Big Show was always more focused and worth listening to when he was hosting it.

As for the change in tone of the Big O show in the last week - I hope its temporary. It's just asinine to sit there and listen to a bunch of meatheads talk about politics. In general I'm pretty apathetic to the current state of politics and try to avoid it at all costs, but the last place I'd turn to for political talk is Fred Smerlas and Glen Ordway. Give me a break, that's even more offensive to the collective intelligence of the audience than D&C talking politics.

Sports radio should talk about sports. 98.5 with Felger and Mazz - two guys who I find annoying collectively, but entertaining together - is simply a better show than the Big Show now anyway.

Celts fanbase isn't as big as the Bruins? Not sure about that.

It is good listening. Big O is trying to position McAdam as the resident moonbat and egg him on but hes not biting.

I forgot that Sean Grandy did the flashes back before Pete.

98.5 can win by hiring Shep as the flash guy for Felger and Mazz and can say, "EEI is on hard times...they can't afford quality on-air talent."

Never thought I'd see the day when DeOssie and Smerlas are on Fox News. Was just waiting for Greta to say, "Who are those guys?"

Although Pete Sheppard represents everything I hate about Boston sports radio, I never wished him to lose his job. I hope he finds work soon. Just not in the Boston market.

There's no need to position McAdam as anything. His words do it enough without help from others.

Guess they made the national scene last night and somehow their steakhouse got pimped... good for them,
