Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

i assumed he was out and would have been far more surprised if he played...

he's hurt...he doesn't have anything to prove...let Palmer or Rivers get a moment in the sun...once you've played in five Conference Championships and Four Super Bowls in the waning weeks of the season, there's really no reason to show up for a make-believe game. Plus, he's not getting younger and shouldn't take even a showcase risk of being injured...

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

I bet Nate Kaeding will kick the game winning field goal.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

Brady has not been offically ruled out of the pro bowl, we are assuming.. But my take is he will announce within a week...

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

Good stuff.

Also happy Matt Schuab got a spot now.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

I'm hoping that Brady plays in at least one more Pro Bowl before he retires.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

I do not think that we will every know how hurt he was this year. Ditto for Moss.

I'm glad that he is skipping the Pro-Bowl.

Why is that? Now that the Pro Bowl is the week before the Super Bowl, one of the pre-requisites for playing is NOT being in the Super Bowl. Furthermore, now that we've witnessed a major injury happen to Brady, I'm not sure why anyone would want him to play in a game as meaningless and superfluous as the Pro Bowl and risk injury.

Why? After watching Wes go down with a non contact injury, why would we want TB to take any unnecessary risks of being injured in a meaningless game.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl is more tainted this year than ever before.

Eight injury replacements, a ninth replacement due to Jackson being both WR and KR in the NFC.

And then:

Saints vs Colts - Saints (5 - Brees, Stinchcomb, Evans, Vilma, Sharper); Colts (6 - Freeney, Mathis, Saturday, Manning, Wayne, Clark)
Saints vs Jets - Saints (5); Jets (4 - Ferguson, Mangold, Faneca, Revis)

Vikings vs Colts - Vikings (10 - Favre, Peterson, Rice, McKinnie, Hutchinson, Allen, Williams, Winfield, Harvin, Farwell); Colts (6)
Vikings vs Jets - Vikings (10); Jets (4)

So, with the Super Bowl, a minimum of 9 more replacements, with a maximum of 16.

That would give us a minimum of 18 replacements, in between 20 and 23... with up to 25....

Not to mention any conference championship losers that bow out due to injury.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

Thank god! Rest up Tommy. We need you firing on all cylinders in 2010.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

Brady started all 16 games in 2009, as well as the wild card game against Baltimore, passing for 4,398 yards and 28 touchdowns with 13 interceptions. I am amazed that anyone could think Tom had a sub-par season.

..And this was my exact argument as to why I thought having the game the week BEFORE the Super Bowl was a TERRIBLE idea.

It's only natural that EVERY year the Super Bowl teams will most likely have the most Pro Bowlers.

Not only that, but I would contend that the Conference Championship losers will NOT play either (even if PERFECTLY healthy).

Let's put it this way, if you are Drew Brees and you lose to the Vikings, would you still want to go to Miami IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MINNESOTA vs. NJY/IND Super Bowl HOOPLA. That is like salt in an open wound. Instead of being in Miami as a player preparing for the Super Bowl, you get to be there as Pro Bowler who gets to witness the Super Bowlers being worshipped.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

More people are going to watch the Pro-Bowl the week before the Super Bowl and the NFL season no longer ends on an anti-climatic note.

It was still a fantastic move, in my mind.

Why does anyone cares who actually suits up? If no one really cares who wins then no one is going to care about that either. Now it's just something that adds to the two week Super Bowl experience/atmosphere for anyone in town who wants to check out.

Re: Is Brady out of the all important Pro Bowl

Why not play in the pro bowl?
