I am think about taking Friday off.

Is it rounds 1and 2 or just round 1 on Thursday? Anyone know the approx time frame. I can''t remember if its 10 or 15 mins between picks.
It would seem rounds 1-2 would be Thursday and the rest on Friday night?
thanks for any info

I think round 1 is Thursday night; round 2-3 is Friday night; and the rest on Saturday.

That is correct. Starting times below...

Thursday - 7:30pm eastern
Friday - 6:30pm eastern
Saturday - 10am eastern

I swear to God if I have to wait until friday for our first pick...

Assuming no changes from last year, it's 10 min in round one, 7 min in round two, and 5 min in every other round.

Correct.

Pfft, imagine being British (Eastern +5) and seriously considering taking Friday off work so I can stay up and watch the draft Thursday night.

I miss the old format :(

Correct.

How long would that make round one? 6 hours?

32*10 = 320 minutes = 5 1/3 hours. But that's only if every team takes the full time. I forget how long last year's was and the wikipedia page doesn't list it. But it looks like it will be over around midnight or 12:30 for you guys.

The draft thread here does, though. :D

It took just over 3 1/2 hours to get to the Patriots' first actual pick, at #34.

A 7.30pm Eastern start means 12.30am in the UK. Implying that pick 32 will be around 4am.

There's no way I'll make it into work the next day.

This draft is going to be painful to watch.. now they have extended it to 3 days.. not sure I would burn a vacation day for it though.

Understandable if you work in America. Don't you guys only get something like 10 days holiday a year, excluding public holidays?

I live and work in London, my job gives me 25 days holiday per year plus 8 public holidays. I don't know anyone in a professional job who gets less than 20 days of holiday per year.

So yeah...I've booked the Friday off work. Also booked off the Monday after the Super Bowl.

The schedule works for me but it will be REALLY weird having a full day's wait between rounds 1 and 2. Talk about a tease.

I'll be coaching my kids' soccer practice from 8:30 - 9:30 eastern (I live in CA) so I'll DVR it and watch, skipping commercials, when I get home. That will be about 7-930 my time. Just about perfect.

Friday's 3:30 (my time) works as I get home at around 3pm (that's the good part, I get to work at 5am).

Saturday starting at 7am (my time) is a little early. But workable.

Hehe, what about last year when we traded down, twice, out of the the first.

You'd spend 3 hours watching the draft and we wouldn't have even picked by the end.

I wouldn't be surprised if we again trade out of the 1st.
There may not be a blue-chipper that Belichick wants at 22 compared to the many red-chippers who should be still available in the top of the second.

For example, I think it quite possible for us to trade our 22 for 37 and 69, getting a third back or even a bit lower, picking up both our lost 3rd and 5th.

Please don't say that.
Now that you mentioned it; I think I'll work Friday.
Its its 3 days I can watch the other 2 days.
Wouldn't surprise me IF we traded our #1 back for say a # 2 or 3 this year and same next year( whatever the value is)

Strange that they extended the draft to 3 days. I thought they wanted it to move along FASTER?

I think this adds another strategic element to the draft. Because now you have that overnight period to think about your second round picks before you wake up and have some time to make phone calls to set up deals to go get em.

Will this improve the overall quality of 2nd rounders picked by teams in 2010? Will that extra day's time to think about who they want in round 2 make a difference? Also who is BB working with to set up his draft board. I know we were all a bit scared about him going solo without Pioli but the 2009 draft seems to have had a lot of quality contributors, whiffs on Brace and maybe Chung notwithstanding... Edelman and Pryor appear to be quite nice late round pickups. Vollmer and Butler look like studs/starters in the making.

This is King Roger trying for more ad revenue and viewer-ship.
