LaDainian Tomlinson reiterated Monday that he plans to continue playing football, even if he's released by the Chargers.

"I will play in 2010," he said. Tomlinson has no trade value and will draw next to no interest on the free agent market once he's cut. A team may take a flier on the future Hall of Famer in training camp, but it won't take long to realize Tomlinson has nothing left. He's worth dropping in deep dynasty leagues.

The Patriots have taken down Marshall Faulk and LaDainian Tomlinson at the peak of their careers, and neither guy recovered.

I don't ever remember seeing a running back go from the best in the game to below average in two years. You normally expect the decline in skills to be gradual, but he went from greatness to terrible so fast. And this past year it was clear he played one year too many.

Too much tread on the tires. It's why I avoided Tomlinson in fantasy leagues the last two years.

I'd be hard pressed to disagree with that statement. Though it stands to reason that Brady and Moss probably weren't ever going to play at the level they played in 2007 ever again, regardless of what the Giants did in the SB, and that the Patriots weren't going 16-0 again. And yes, that argument can apply to 2006 Tomlinson and his TD record breaking season, but then you don't have to look further than to 2007 when the Patriots again shut down Tomlinson and Co., and it really tailspinned from there.

On the other hand, the Patriots haven't been the juggernaut they once were, but it's still too soon to completely write off an entire franchise, whereas it's very simple to write off Tomlinson individually.

Of course they didn't, I agree 100%. The Pats have hardly played LdT. The guy just hit the wall, and I agree with you that I've never seen a RB slow down so quickly.

Re-watching SB36, I do think that the Pats took something off of Marshallfaulker's career. They absolutely destroyed him that game. It's no wonder he's still so bitter towards the Pats.

Some people just don't know when to let go do they. LT, despite his earlier success and being used in touchdown scenarios this season is a shell and now an injury prone prima donna taking away carries from Sproles to service his own ego.

Its what happens to RB's, Priest Holmes, Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, Clinton Portis, Brian Westbrook have all declined IMO weather it be due to injuries or just being worn down. LT is no where near Terrible but hes not LT anymore.
