Ohh what a pass rush and pressure can do for a team. Its not the number of sacks but constant pressure and NOT sitting back waiting to react .

The Cowboys have an outstanding front 7 as well. Why did they let up 34 I thought only terrible defenses like ours got lit up like that

With Ray Edwards, Pat Williams, Kevin Williams, Jared Allen, they probably have the best D Line in the NFL. But the rest of the defense pretty much sucks, so, they aren't that good

So often the Vikings can send just their front 4 and get more pressure than most teams get rushing everybody in the box!

It makes them quite fun to watch....and also makes me jealous!!

We've won with a read and react defense. We need a better pass rush but you can absolutely win the way we play.

This is true, I just wasn't aware that a good defense could give up 34 points. I thought terrible defenses like ours were the only ones that were capable of such deed.

If only Ray Edwards wasn't inconsistant. When he is on his game, the defensive line is nasty. Kevin Williams can lay the smack down on QBs, and Pat Williams has good lateral ability and is phenomenal at reading and stopping screens. Our backups Brian Robison and Jimmy Kennedy can both get after the QB (especially Robison). And everyone knows Jared Allen.

the trade for J Allen is what has put the Vikings into the elite


at the time I thought they gave up too much..but the guy is up there with Freeney as pretty much unstoppable

Not just because of that, but because every part of their game was solid. They shut down Witten, shut down Romo's mobility, and neutralized the Dallas monster DL, and used their strong run game to keep the defense honest.

Vikes and Dallas are the two most complete teams I've seen in a while. It's going to be a monster NFC championship game.

Pass rushers will be available via free agency, trade, or in the NFL draft.

I watch a lot of Vikings games and Kevin Williams has had years where he probably was the best DT in the league. Jared Allen is clearly one of the top 5 DE's in the game and you could make an argument for him being no.1. Pat Williams might be slowing down a bit, but has had some very good years at the NT spot in the Vikings 4-3 and still is very tough to move against the run. When you have 3 guys who are that good, it makes it so much easier for everyone else. Ray Edwards is really coming on, but you can't double him, because singling Jared Allen or Kevin Williams regularly is a BAD idea. Hell, even former first round bust Jimmy Kennedy plays some effective snaps for the Vikings inside at DT. Those elite players make the jobs of everyone else so much easier. The Patriots don't have one playmaker on the level of Kevin Williams or Jared Allen and that must change. As for the poster who said the rest of the Vikings defense sucks, that's not really true. EJ Henderson was a beast at MLB before that terrible injury against Arizona landed him on IR. Antoine Winfield is still a very good CB, but is hobbled by injury and can only play the slot right now because of it.

Let's not get crazy. Brett Favre made this team elite and a SB contender. Not to diminish Allen in any way, but Favre took the team to an entirely new level.

Yep, they were last year too. You see the Jets don't have great pass rushers, what they do have is a great scheme. Hopefully we go get some legit Pass Rushers.
