NFL Truths: Peyton at the crossroads - NFL News - FOX Sports on MSN

The lone remaining venue where a QB can distinguish himself from the pretenders is the postseason.

Manning needs a good showing and a victory on Saturday. If not, he’s a Dan Marino upgrade and a slice below Brett Favre. That’s not bad company. But it’s not Montana, Elway and Brady. Hell, Manning could fall behind Kurt Warner, if Warner wins another Super Bowl.

Prediction: Ravens 23, Colts 21.

This is about karma. The football gods are going to make Indianapolis pay for spitting on history and quitting on perfection. The Ravens jump to a big lead and hold on down the stretch. Ray-ven Lewis and Ed Reed both create critical turnovers. The Ravens get their licks on Manning despite dropping eight into coverage half the game.

Wow..Does Whitlock like anyone?

I know Peyton has not had the most success in the playoffs but there is not one other QB besides Brady that I fear and respect more than #18 - He is more dangerous than any QB in the league.

Perhaps maybe Whitlock had some money on the Colts vs the Jets 3 weeks ago?

Yeah, himself.

And you get the feeling to him, that's all that matters.

In fairness though I agree with what he's saying here. Popularity Peyton fools everybody again.

I don't like the Colts, but there is no way Manning is below Favre and Warner. Manning protects the ball way better than Favre, and hasn't disappeared from the league for 5 years like Warner has.

If the Ravens win this weekend, it will be the same way they beat the Pats - big play defense and pounding the ball down the Colts throats.

As much as I'd like the prediction to be true, Whitlock is an idiot.

Well if you count primarily the playoffs, there is not a better QB in this league than Warner for the past decade - yes,I think he is better than Brady in the playoffs.

Whitlock may be correct this time, who knows now?
As much as I hate to say it, Manning is the best QB in the league bar none, so Baltimore will have their hands full, and I want Ray Ray the felon to LOSE!!

i hate to say it but the ravens beat the most predictable offense in the NFL that lost it's only play makeer one week befor the playoffs

after only 3 weeks the Media forgets that the only reason the colts are not 16-0 is cause they did not want to go 16-0 they are still the best team in the NFL. and they will beat the ravens

I wouldn't let Jason Whitlock walk my dogs, let alone pass off opinion as fact about a sport he clearly hasn't a clue about.

Peyton Manning is in the argument for GOAT right now, let alone after him winning a second ring.

Peyton deserves to be dogged. He's a regular season wonder  and there is no excuse for it other than the fact that he is a wilting lilly under the pressure. Brady, Favre and Warner have all had injury issues in their careers that Manning has not and unlike Manning , Warner and Brady actually have lives beyond football which draws their attention. (Favre also has a familly but it's pretty clear football and ego are the only interests in his life)
Manning has a mediocre playoff history and that will continue this year. The Chickens will beat the Ravens (a team without a QB) tonight but they're not beating the Chargers next week. Peyton and the Chickens will forever be tainted by laying down this year. It will be part of Peyton's legacy and justifiably so. Anyone who thinks Peyton Manning didn't give a "behind the scenes " wink and a nod at the decision to lie down is delusional.

Sorry, the "regular season wonder" tag lost a lot of steam once Manning won a Super Bowl. At this point he has won the same number of SBs as Warner and Favre and is a serious threat to overtake a lot of Favre's records, including the games played streak. I don't like the guy because he plays for the Colts, but I respect his talent and would probably want him on the Pats if they didn't have Brady.
