I'll preface this by saying take what he said, as usual, with a large grain of salt. He's much more reliable when it comes to the NBA than the NFL, but here's an excerpt from today's article:

"From what I'm hearing, Belichick is finally and belatedly blowing this thing up: flipping half the roster, dumping Randy Moss and Adalius Thomas, hiring new coordinators (one's already gone), splurging in free agency and either signing or drafting a stud running back to take pressure off Brady. Whether a 58-year-old man can rebuild this franchise AND coach it remains to be seen. I just know it's never been done before."

I don't think anyone would/will be surprised when AD is gone, but personally I'd let Moss play out his contract year.

Re: Bill Simmons article - "What he hears"

I know one thing, nothing will surprise me short of Belichick or Brady leaving. Whether Moss leaves or not I have no clue but I am certain his game vs. Carolina didn't amuse Belichick.

I'd say that the roster flipping is well underway.

Re: Bill Simmons article - "What he hears"

Moss isnt going anywhere

Re: Bill Simmons article - "What he hears"

I really can't see Belichick "dumping" Moss just like that. It's the media and some folks around here that have been unhappy with him, Belichick has gone out of his way to praise him almost all year.

Because he needs the praise. He is fragile.

I tend to agree with you. BB's just doing everything he can to get the most out of Randy.

I would be shocked if Moss is gone, then agan, I think this off-season is going to have lots of "OMG" moments team wise. Hopefully all positive...:)

I thought trading Seymour was BB "blowing it up" since he already lost 54, 37, 50....

Oh god, you could have warned us that when you open that link the first thing you see is big fat Rex Ryan in your face.

As others have said Moss is not going anywhere, the guy was injured earlier in the season and I don't think he ever fully recovered. I expect him back in top shape next season.

Predicting that Thomas is gone is old news.

Can't you picture a meeting where Bill and Kraft look over the roster and the season's results with disgust? Well, Kraft might not totally be disgusted, but I can picture Bill stringing together some pretty impressive cursage and literally drawing lines through names on a list - players AND coaches.

A lot of streaks ended in 2009/10. Maybe one of them was signing piles of mediocre players in the hopes of getting some production.

I really think BB likes Moss and as far as WRs go, there are a lot more head cases out there than Moss.

That being said, I can't see behind the scenes and it wouldn't TOTALLY surprise me if BB was simply preserving Randy's value for a potential trade.

But when I read about BB going all out to draft a stud RB, that's when I knew that Simmons was totally full of it.

Should have known it before.

I don't trust Bill Simmons about much, least of all football.

Not sure what sense is makes to trade a guy who is guaranteed to take 2 defenders with him no matter where he is on the field. The problem is we don't have a receiver on the outside to take advantage of that, Welker can tear it up underneath, but we need receivers like Stallworth and Gaffney who are complimentary wideouts to Moss & Welker.

Yo Bill, get rid of MARONEY!

Please stop with this nonsense. Has BB ever shown that he will go out of his way to stroke a player's ego? The entire motto is do your job and there is NOTHING to indicate that one player has changed that.

The fact of the matter is actually Moss' is NOT fragile, and he actually does hold a lot of value to the team. He really is a hard worker, good teammate and intelligent football player. But since everyone wants to believe what they want to believe, they go out of their way to turn everything into what it is not.

Oh yea but I thought he was going to be cut in Training Camp of 2007... "what he hears" is more like "what he made up in his own mind". Anyone who thinks Moss is getting cut is just delusional.

Terry Glenn... now he was fragile. BB doesn't play games and he certainly doesn't baby any player, HOFer or not. So the crowd that thinks BB/Brady secretly dislike Moss need to just come back to earth.

You're looking at one more season out of Moss, max. He'll be 33 and had injury problems this season. He was not double-teamed against the Ravens or Jets. He requires constant attention and praise to keep his motivation up. There was considerable evidence pointing to him quitting on plays this season. He's not going to be the same receiver as he was in 2007, not even close.

I don't mind seeing Randy go as long as we either have a viable replacement for him in the current offensive scheme or we change the scheme and get some other skill players to execute it.

I would love for Randy to get his ring with us, but in my opinion we have to think about the team first. While I don't buy these "doggin it" stories I do know that there are times this year when he wasn't as effective as he was in 2007, if that is explained by an injury he had, fine, only the organization knows that for sure and I'll accept their judgement. If it was caused by dimishing skills in an older reciever we may have to go another way.

I tend to agree with pats1 here. Moss needs to go. It is a tough decision
for BB because of how Brady and Moss have become close friends.
I love Brady's favorite receiver to be the open one again.
I could see BB blowing it up because there are so many issues to address.
Do what's right for the team Bill.
