Personally I think he probably did it. That being said....

"Nice reporting and nice writing" -> "Of course, we can never know if its all true or not, but one can easily wonder..."

This is not reporting. Its an editorial piece that is clearly highly influenced by the reporters own thoughts on the case. The first page alone is absolutely ridiculous. It reads like a crime novel. Real reporting doesn't contain lines like

"*Re-created from interviews, court filings, and police reports, and told through the eyes of Robert Nixon."

Personally, I think it looks like its probably going to turn out hes guilty, but until that's decided, any real journalist or real news source wouldn't put out crap like that.

An interesting read? yes. Journalism? no.

Ordinarily I'd think that goes without saying and that GQ is not a news source, but with some of the posters on this board, you just know some people will consider this "report" as if it were a guilty verdict.

who knows exactly what the truth is...what i can say is harrison did something...and that's not the type of guys this league needs

i think its ridiculous guys get off in the nfl...you have a nice job...big company...normal guy...shirt and tie type job..and you do what some of these nfl players do...heck even get arrested on small charges...you're gone...fired....done...don't come back.

you get in trouble in the nfl? suspension, but then, its okay, come on back. i don't get it.

This story alone defines the power of the media. Do you think for a second that if a guy like TO or Moss was involved in something this crazy, that it would be brushed under the rug like this?

The media dictates this sort of stuff. We cared more about Plexiglass shooting himself in the leg than we did about Matt Jones snorting a kilo of coke in a parking lot. Terrell Suggs is a kingpin, and police found a body in the trunk of a rental in his name. No one knows this though.

On the Scot Van Pelt show on ESPN radio, SVP interviewed the author of the GQ story (which is 7 pages long- I think some are only reading the 1st page).

The GQ author was pretty critical of the Philly proscecutor. He said that (not surprisingly in this rough neighborhood) all nine witnesses were loser-type characters. Some of them denied seeing anything at all at first, but when pressed, all nine said Marvin was the shooter. There were many variations in the story relating to exactly how it happened, though, like who got shot first, the reasons behind it, what was said, etc.

The proscecutor wanted some Ward & June Cleaver-like eyewitness to put on the stand, and all there were was people with rap sheets and a histories of drug use. Well, this shooting was apparently drug-related, in a bad neighborhood, near businesses known to be fronts for drug and gang activity, and squeaky-clean witnesses were nowhere to be found.

Moral, I guess: If you shoot up people, shoot up low-lifes and hope only other low-lifes see it, then you can get away with it.

Ocho, Moss, or Owens would be crusified, but nobody even talks about Marvin Harrison. He used to always sit on the bench alone but nobody questioned his work ethic and nobody wanted him off the Colts. Crazy how things work... The media can really turn you on a player.
