Hard times in Homerville

I kind of like Homerville without the tourist.

Homerville is just the sports equivalent of Stepford, Connecticut.

Well, at least we know how to smile even in the harder times. I pity you.

Not ashamed to admit I'm a HUGE Pat's Homer and always will be. Just can't bring myself to ever criticise one of the best coaches in NFL History. Yes, he makes mistakes but they are honest mistakes. As a fan of a side who have won three Lombardi's in the last decade I've been spoiled rotten and am prepared to accept rougher times ahead as a new Pats emerge. The Pats are the best franchise in the NFL or anywhere else in US Sports. We're damn lucky to be fans of this team.

I've been a fan of the pats for over three decades throughy the good times and bad. A storm has past through Homerville, i have branches on my roof and on the lawn, the power is out, but it will return to normal soon enough.

Well its begun last night Borges heavily hinting that Brady won't be back after 2010. Said the Pats approached him last year and he didn't want to talk. Could this be more Borges spin or MAYBE Brady is sick of the Pats using the Bruins negotiating tactics. Big Ben, Rivers, Eli, Cutler, Cassell all got their money. I am telling you this organization is ready to start over and its going to blow up in their face. The Krafts already ruined one dynasty in 1996. I still don't understand Belichick, why is he complicit in this.
Sounds like your throwing your trash out the window as you pass through homeville.

Homerville is kinda like the Cape Cod of the NFL. Great place to be on a sunny day so it attracts all manner of visitors who do nothing but complain about the traffic and demand expansion to make their access easier and do they wail about the pricey nature of the place during the occasional less than optimal weather weeks in season. Thing is the visitors apparently pay the freight and after all the tourists leave year rounders claim it's still the best place to be on a sunny day, and even on a rainy day it's not too shabby. Generally gets less snow than average, too. And even when the winds are howling it's far more entertaining to watch the ocean perform than staring at snowcovered cornfields (or even frozen tundras) or dancing wildfires or soot encrusted rooftops...not that there's anything wrong with living in Indianapolis or San Deigo or Pittsburgh or the like. Could be worse. NJ comes to mind. Yet I hear some love living there, too. Close to lots of culture. Maybe some of our tourists will try it out next season. I hear like Philly it's got a lot, a lot to offer.

I have myself a nice cheap condo here in Homerville and the riff raff that have flowed here has really lower the value of my Place but I made some nice renovations.

I followed the Pats model of renovation put in place holders untill you get the piece you really want it's not as good but it still works well for me and doesn't look as bad as if i tore the whole thing down and started over

LOL I must have missed that 1996 dynasty...

Borges is like the guy from Oakland who went to every town meeting to lobby against a new stadium in Foxboro who after making a million selling hotdogs outside it still wants to convince everyone it was a lousy idea to ever let him build it. He and his peers should all have to spend a decade selling hotdogs outside the Black Hole he came from. The one where he learned all there is to know about now to run a successful football team.

Prior to 2001 Homerville use to be a quiet little village that only a few of us resided. Then came the boom times when people flocked to Homerville after February 2002.

They enjoyed the fair weather and the free rides offered on the Homerville Transit bandwagon. They stopped by the Homerville Pub where they use to sit in the fair weather and drink the Kool Aid punch. They made deposits in the IBBWT Bank and watched gleefully as their account kept multiplying.

But then the crash came this year and people started to panic. There was a run on the IBBWT Bank and they withdrew all that they had. No longer was there nice fair weather days and the clouds started to appear in the sky that seemed to be falling. The once busy Homerville Transit bandwagon now had empty window seats. And the Homerville Pub is back to just a few of us regulars enjoying the Kool Aid. We go to the TFB Chapel every day to renew our faith.

Will Homerville ever recover? Should it become a gated community where only the faithful are allowed to reside?

Remember back in the day...
...when Bob Kraft was just another rider on the Homerville Transit bandwagon and that tyke Jonathan used to run up and down the aisle selling peanuts and hot chocolate?
...when the TFB Chapel was still named the "OMG We Won a Game" Chapel?
...when you could have a smoke with your Kool Aid in the Homerville Pub?
...when a Luxury Seat was when you put a pillow on the bench?

Thanks...that was great.

As someone who's supported the team for a long time, I have no problem with those who jumped on the Bandwagon in January 2002 as long as they're smart about football and as long as they don't head for the hills or start trashing everything about the team now that we're going through whatever it is we are going through.

But anyone who moves out now ain't welcome back in Homerville. Doesn't mean we all don't have a right to be critical and ask questions; just means we have to be smart and respectful of what the Krafts and BB have built.

FYI...in Homerville, it is open season on trolls year-round and any form of weaponry is allowed. Shotguns, sniper rifles, tiger pits, crossbows, etc... You've been warned.

I still remember my first trip to Homerville in 1985 and my dad teaching me all about "squishing the fish" and that Tony Eason and Steve Grogan were fantastic I decided then and there to make sure I always lived.

I remember my first Trip to the Pub in 2001 (when i was finally old enough to drink) and celebrating with all the other true fans that waited and were patient

I've never thought you have to be a blind homer to be a fan. I've never understood those who do think if you aren't, you are a worse fan than they are but I've never understood the I'm a better fan than you are battles you see a lot around here.

Can't you be a Sox fan, appreciate Theo Epstein and all he has done (more than anyone who has his job in 100 yrs) and still say his choices to play SS over the years are mostly nothing short of brutal?

Does a Celtics fan have to blindly back all that Ainge has done because he brought banner 17?

Are you not diehard Patriots fan just because you say BB missed badly on WRs this past offseason and it cost them games? Or that his defense hasn't been as good in recent years or question his coordinators? Or to question 4th and 2?

I'm not even saying I pesonally question all of the above but I can understand how many fans would and it doesn't make them Jets fans.

There are certainly those who go the total opposite way of being a homer and aren't really fans of the team. That is a tiny minority. I'd also say the total blind homers are also a very tiny minority. The issue on this board is that both those tiny minorities are extremely vocal and it really destroys most threads.

I find it odd that it is the citizens of Homerville who would like to see improvement in their town that are belittled as "bandwagon fans".

It's precisely these people who are the most passionate, and imo, the REAL fans.

People who sit around saying bullcrap like "maybe a few losing seasons would do us good" are not only poor fans, but they're idiots.

That is all.

No one in Homerville says you can't want to see improvement but the "bandwagon fans"are the ones that are saying cause the team went 10-6 that they are done we need to get rid of BB and Brady. Those are the spoiled "Bandwagoners" we want to get rid of.

and besides the definition of a "homer" is that the team can do no wrong most of the fans here in Homerville are smart enough to know that things need to be improved but we are not going to scream "we're DOOOOOMED" and say the sky is falling and that we need to run away msot of us fans here in Homerwille have seen a lot worse then a 10-6 season and a 1st round playoff loss

I'd actually call such people morons, not bandwagon fans.

True "bandwagon" fans don't write on team message boards, or if they do, they're long gone before they're posting "suggestions" on how the team should improve.

Bandwagon fans tell their friends their favorite team is the Pats and buy Pats hats, and then when they start performing poorly they tell their friends they like Peyton Manning, or the Jets, or the Cowboys. Next Christmas they'll be wearing a Manning jersey. That's bandwagon.

I'm sorry but some people seem to not understand what a band wagon fan is....

A bandwagon fan..Switches support to whatever team/game/allegiance/belief happens to be successful at the time. To me a BWF just wants to be associated with a winner, as soon as the winning stops they're gone. Thats not a real fan IMO.
