What about Mike Martz?

I know he favors and air attack but think of the brain power between him and BB. Martz could design and offense and BB could devise ways to defend it.

In the past BB has spoken very highly of Martz's offenses.

This has been discussed in other threads...

No. No. No. No.

Lunacy with a moon-sized ego. I don't think so.

Sounds just like to anti-Moss talk before he was traded, makes me believe even more that it is going to happen.

I like Martz a lot but I think Billy O'Brien will have the playsheet again next year. Sorry :)

Charlie Armey: Hiring Mike Martz is 'worst thing that could happen' to Jay Cutler

I found this article interesting....

http://content.usatoday.com/communit...o-jay-cutler/1

Former Rams executive (and former Patriots executive) Charlie Armey said Bears coach Lovie Smith would be doing himself a great disservice if he hires ex-Rams coach Mike Martz as his offensive coordinator.
Martz said Tuesday that he would like to serve under Smith with the Bears, who ousted former OC Ron Turner.
But Armey, whose time in St. Louis coincided with Martz's, strongly cautioned Smith (who served as defensive coordinator in St. Louis under Martz) not to hire his old boss.
"I would guess Lovie would hire him because there's a lot of loyalty there," Armey told ESPN. "But I think it would be an absolute mistake, and it would shorten Lovie's career."
Armey also said Martz, who directed the Rams' offense when they were known as the "Greatest Show on Turf," would not be a good teacher for Bears QB Jay Cutler.
"I don't think Martz would work well with Jay Cutler at all," Armey told ESPN. "He's a terrible ... coach, and he would ruin that kid like he ruined Kurt Warner and drove him out of St. Louis.
"He's the worst thing that could happen to any young quarterback." -- Sean Leahy

Although I am not a fan of bringing Martz in here, the reasons why Armey thinks Martz is bad for the Bears does not apply to the Patriots. He is stating Martz is not a good teacher and right now, Cutler needs an OC who is going to work with him and study film and work on his reads. That ain't Martz. Martz is not a teaching coach. He works better with an established QB who doesn't need guidance.

Brady only really needs a guy who is going to develop a successful gameplan and call the right plays. In theory, Martz could do that.

I think Martz's ego is the problem for me. Can he take orders from Belichick and allow Brady imput on the gameplans? I am not sure. Martz and Belichick reportedly have a good relationship, but that is probably because they deal with each other from a distance. I don't know if they could co-exist on the same team though.
