Who is there to choose from that would improve Pees, assuming Crennel goes elsewhere?

Me, my Madden team holds opponests to 15 points per game lol. Na but I agree their isnt much out there unless BB goes after one who is on another team.

Depends who we is... If it's message board posters the skys the limit. Whoever has the most name recognition and is available after failing miserably elsewhere. If it's Bill I'm sure he has a short list same as he did when RAC left and even when Eric bailed prematurly. It likely isn't anyone most of us are familiar with or would approve of.

Is Jim Zorn offensive or defensive minded? I'd take him on either side.

Zorn is a former QB...I'd hazard a guess he'd be hired by someone as an OC

Let's not and say we did :D (BTW Google is your friend..guys)
Zorn joined the Redskins from the Seattle Seahawks where he spent seven seasons (2001-07) as quarterbacks coach.

Is Rod Rust still alive or is he pushing mushrooms?

In-Rod-We-Rust :confused3:

How about Pepper Johnson?

Matt Patricia is the next Patriot's defensive coordinator in waiting.

Maybe we can bring back pete Carroll after he sucks in Seattle. Lol!!

My bet would be on Al Groh getting a call. He would bring both the experience in the 3-4, as well as the "respect" to challenge BB when necessary.

Some names to consider, all controversial:

1. Al Groh. Former Virginia and NY Jets HC, former BB and BP assistant, including DC with the Giants (1991) and the Pats (1993-1996, during which time we drafted Chris Slade and Willie McGinest). Fired by Virginia this offseason. Currently looking at the Georgia Tech DC job, and possibly being rumored to join Parcells in Miami as DC.

2. **** Jauron. Currently unemployed. Former Chicago and Buffalo HC, and DC for Tom Coughlin from 1995-1998. Very cerebral coach, who has ties to BB and who BB has openly lauded at times. Not successful as a HC, but Buffalo had a solid defense. No obvious 3-4 experience.

3. Paul Pasqualani. Fired today as Miami DC. Former Syracuse HC. Has experience with the 3-4.

4. Clancy Pendergast. Currently DC at Kansas City, may be out if Romeo Crennel signs on. Was DC at Arizona, where he developed Karlos Dansby and Darnell Dockett. Could be a good signing if we want to lure Dansby in FA. Has experience with a hybrid 3-4/4-3 defense. Was fired by Arizona, and KC's defense hasn't exactly shut teams down this season. Whether it's the personnel or the schemes is the question.

5. Tim Lewis. Currently DB coach at Seattle, which has just hired a new HC, so he could be available. Was former DC for Pittsburgh (prior to **** LeBeau) and the Giants, but was fired by both. Has 3-4 and 4-3 experience.

6. Bob Sutton. Currently Jets LB coach, former HC at army. Has 3-4 experience. Currently rumored to be the leading candidate for DC for the NY Giants.

7. Pepper Johnson. Currently DL coach for the Pats, has 3-4 experience. Rumored to be a contender for the NY Giants DC opening.

I'm sure I could come up with some more names, but that's a start. Any of them sound interesting? Certainly Al Groh or **** Jauron would bring more independence and fresh ideas to the DC position than Dean Pees.

Al Groh was awful in his first stint. His 5-11 defense was putrid, and with the same players as Al, BB came in with some bogus Ass't Head Coach title, took over the defense, and brought the team to the Super Bowl.

Another guy to keep an eye on is Cleveland DC Rob Ryan. He's coached for BB before and runs a 3-4, and with Mike Holmgren taking charge in Cleveland, it's possible that there could be turnover at the coordinator level even though Mangini stays. Cleveland's defense did well this season, and their performance against Pittsburgh was as good as any I've seen.

Washington DC Greg Blache could also possibly move on with Mike Shanahan taking over, though I think that's unlikely, and he has primarily run a 4-3.

I think Jauron would be a decent option....BB and Jauron both have tremendous respect for each other. I think Jauron has fielded some respectable defenses in his career. As long as Jauron stays as far away from the offensive players as possible, I will be content:)

I could see Pepper Johnson being offered the job, he obviously has ties to BB and has 3-4 experiance. The other less likely imo is Rob Ryan who was with the pats before. I don't se the other name sas being viable.

Why I could see Rob Ryan as a potential replacement, why would Ratfink/Holmgren give permission for a lateral move to the Pats?
