Neal after game: "I'm not sure if I'll keep playing"

I cannot fault a guy like Neal who hits a veritable wall on every play and who's plagued by injury from considering his and his family's best interests. It's a game and a business enterprise. Do not cripple yourself for decades for a couple more megabucks. Consider and decide. In any case, thank you for your service.

Wish him all the best. With him being a FA and unfortunately very injury prone, I doubt we see him back here next year.

I wouldn't make any plans around Neal for the future. I think we need to draft a rookie RG who is capable of starting day 1.

Today like the year the Giants beat the PATs a big part of it was the Oline.

Give the Ravens the long run by Rice. But the Ints and the pressure on
Brady led to a lot of extra points they should not have gotten.
This Oline is good against most teams but not against top Defenses.
It happened in the AFCC with the Giants ... it happen again today.

There were lots of problems today but for me the most significant break down
was the OLine. PATs need upgrades at Right Guard and Center and one
Tackle position assuming they resign Mankins. They also need someone
who can pick up a blitzer and not get run over.

Neal had his time and did well but I think he knows it's time to move on
or take a backup roll for less money. Thanks Stephen for the good times.

i think the front 7 on defense was worse. the whole planet jnew rice was getting the ball and we got manhandled. 250 rushing yards in a playoff game...ugh...

Yes but with exception of Rice's long 82 yd run they would have had less
than 200yds of offense. Of that probably a lot less if Brady and company
could have stayed on the field. With a more rested D the run D would
have been better.

So I'm not saying the D is ok, far form it. But it would have been quite adequate if Brady/Offense could could have sustained drives. Brady is
a pocket passer and the Oline has to give him that or what happened
today will happen.

Jeezes, if the mods can't control the trolls, then who is going to?

Every single thread it's the same trolls talking about demolishing the team and firing the coaches, and then the thread devolves into a heated discussion about the same issue thread after thread.

Mods, thank you for locking the other thread. I know you see it and you're on top of it, though surely it would be easier to just cut the cancer out at the source.

thread after thread after thread...

Bodden was our best corner. And even by that fairly pedestrian standard, he is a good player. Should be re-signed.

with the exceptiom of Moss, would you miss any of these players? I won't.

Neal is done. As said, draft a OG, 1st round, hopefully.

Our OL is questionable, and/or OL-coach. Our OL needs to be upgraded, as other positions as well.

I mean, Colts/Jets/Saints OL are better than ours..

Maybe they can get Brock Lesnar to take his spot

I think Neal was too banged up to play effectively, and these injuries are having a cumulative effect on him.

I also think it's time to take a closer look at Koppen and Mankins. In the last two playoff games, both Koppen and Mankins have played terribly. I think Mankins had his worst year this year, and I think Koppen is one of those veterans who has lost his love for the game and is now just playing for a paycheck. The interior of the Patriots' OL needs substantial upgrading.

:wha: ...............

okay to the rebuilding part but Mankins had a good year.

I don't think Koppen is playing for just the $$$ but I do agree we may need an upgrade there.

Koppen is signed for 2 more years ... hopefully it's just a health problem.

You can look at Mankins and Koppen all you want. Mankins will play one more year and Koppen will play two. We do need to use two draft choices in the interior of the OL, but those two will finish thier obligations.

Mankins, one more year?

When it rains, it pours doesn't it? Oh well. With or without him, we needed to draft a RG this year anyway. If he retires, I'm thankful for all that he's done for the team.

He's had a hell of a run with the team and I don't fault him at all for thinking about hanging it up. I wish him luck and happiness in his post-NFL life. A real Patriot.

We need two OG's, one to start in 2010 and one to start in 2011.

If anything this year we were semi-rebuilding with the young players on defence. And i think our corners were better this year than last year. It would be hard to be worse than last year.
