What is wrong with Matt Light???

Terrell Suggs finished the game with 2 tackles and one sack. Dwan Edwards who was going up against Vollmer had 6 tackles and a sack. And we are biatching about Light?

I see the Pats going O-line with their top pick. There will be talent in the mid-to-late first round.

Iupati G, Anthony Davis LT (Rutgers)

Don't forget Matt Tennant Boston College center ... he's a good one and we can get him in the 3rd or 4th. We got killed up the middle all year long. Perhaps Koppen can move to guard and be a backup.

Is he just getting old ?

you got to blame belichick for not making the offensive line better after the super bowl. After the SB, it was obvious our oline was getting old, but he and scarnechia didn't address it until after the 2008 season. the only change they made was Vollmer. Everyone else just kept getting older.

Another silly thread. Light was the team's best tackle, again, today. Meanwhile, Oher, the OT that so many people here have been deriding this season, just helped the Ravens destroy the Patriots.

why do you think they drafted vollmer?

replacement

I have said it all season long that Light is getting old thus getting slow and he cannot get to the guys that rush from the outside as fast as he used to. It showed today on the strip sack by Suggs. He isnt a bad OL, he is just slower than he used to be. I think our protection schemes need to be changed a little to counter for this and give Light more help instead of letting him go one on one.

he's just one player and can't do all the blocking. the other 4 need to be replaced.

He's not that good a pass blocker. He never was. He struggles against speed, he struggles against power. What type of DE is he capable of handling?

No one is question whey brady having about 5 yds of space to step up went back. Not 1 of you are asking why when presure comes he went backwards
.

Even a 1/2 step up he would not be strip sacked. Light drove suggs 7 yds behind the line and brady went to him when their was no one in front.

that is because Brady is a god and light is an easy scapegoat

Ummm basically because he SUCKS and has for a long time and doesn't give a sh!t about winning. He and kaczur should be cut immediately...

Seriously, I don't know what people are watching. Other than a few instances this year, Matt Light has had a solid season when he has been healthy. The last month of the season, Brady was sacked once.

I know the guy has this reputation on this board, but it just isn't jibing with reality. Also, Vollmer gave up as many sacks today as Light and the guy Vollmer was defending had 5 more tackles. Why is Light the only one who is questioned as to what is wrong with him? Why is no one asking what is wrong with Vollmer? Or more important what is wrong with Neal and Koppen who both were turnstyles for much of the first half allowing Ray Lewis to go into the backfield untouched?

Personally, I thought Koppen was the worst today out of all the linemen.

Yes matt light has been good for us for years but like every other aging player he's old and very slow. It doesn't help not getting other help from the oline either but they need to upgrade the oline asap.

Maybe our OL is just showing their age a little.
Matt Light - 32
Stephen Neal - 33
Dan Koppen - 30
Nick Kaczur - 30

Now I don't think they are old but in football years, maybe they are. Mankins is the youngest guy on the line at age 27. Just a thought. It just seems like our O-line has regressed. Maybe it's just injuries. I just read that Neal is thinking about whether or not he'll even continue to play.

Neal uncertain about future - Extra Points - Boston.com

Something to think about.

It's time for Neal to hang it up. He's 33 and looks every bit of it and then some. He's had a helluva nice ride for a guy who never played college ball. Time to smell the roses while you've still got your health.

On the sack Light gave up, wasn't Faulk supposed to chip on his release? It looked like Light protected the inside, and gave up the outside for Faulk to chip.

Brady failed to step up. Light rode Suggs deep and the interior of the pocket remained strong, but Brady didn't take advantage of that.
