Fans at the game today: boo to you

I put this one in a different category than the Dolphins game last year (2008)

In that game the defense just laid a complete egg and it seemed to me there was a clear lack of effort.

In this game I saw a lot of bad luck, and some great plays by the Ravens and some lapses on special teams and elsewhere - but I didn't see a lack of effort. A game dynamic is incredibly different when one is down 24-0 early.

Lack of effort against a team fresh off a 1-15 season? Worth booing in my opinion.

Booing a team that's simply getting outplayed? I don't see the point.

I don't expect fans to be happy - we've seen inconsistency all year. But I think that's a personnel issue more than general lack of team effort and desire.

Fans had a right to boo when it was 1:15pm EST and the score was 14-0. It was disgusting.

How pathetic that the seats were empty in the 3rd quater.

Every fan that left way early should be stripped of their season tickets.

That was a sad and embarrassing sight to see. I'd gladly move up on the list.

You're kidding with this , right? Booing the team as it came out of the tunnel would have been a bit early. Anything other than that was well deserved today.

As for staying or leaving... perhaps you missed the game. Why should the fans stay for a full game when the team never showed up in the first place?

Sure ... booing is fine.

But being loud when the other team is calling it's signals is important.

Ravens had no problem calling signals when we were attempting to come back.

Booo to the pathetic fans not helping their team win.

It's not why we lost ... but it is still sad to see.

It was a little embarrassing. The guys on the UK coverage pointed it out and called out the fans as the prawn sandwich brigade.

You help your team win at home games ... does it need to be said?

Too many wins at home has made the fans soft.

The team is only worth it when they win?

Some people forget the losing years I guess.

What did you want them to do? Cheer them as they walked off the field?

They under performed all season long and didnt give fans much to cheer about at any point in this season.

That's what i am saying ... a team is only to be cheered for when winning?

What ever happened to helping them win.

Flacco had no trouble calling signals today which is supposed to be a home field advantage.

At least they were there. You're on your computer at home.

And others apparently fail to realize that fans don't have to be so brain dead as to walk in lockstep with a team under any and all circumstances.

The team didn't show up . . . and that goes for a variety of times during the season too . . . they deserved to be booed. This Patriots team is an embarassment compared to the great teams of the decade and not just in level of talent.

Thoughts from a long time season ticket holder, first time poster....

On the boos: the team deserved it. I have no problem with that. They were absolutely inept. We expect more. The players should understand that. I will cheer loudly when we are doing well and also through occasional mistakes which inevitably will happen, but I will also boo when the team plays like they don't even belong on the field.

On leaving early: it was unacceptable to leave in the 3rd quarter of that game, at 27-14, if you are a true fan. In the 4th quarter, after the last Ravens TD, then I can understand...I personally wouldn't do it, but I would understand. Sadly, much of the fanbase in attendance has softened. Shame on them for that.

My family has had season tickets since the early '80s, and there has been a noticeable change in the crowd, especially since moving to Gillette. A recent example: I can only make it to 1 or 2 games a year since moving out of town, and this year I was at the Jax game....I was standing and cheering at the end of the 4th quarter, with game in hand, when someone yelled out condescendingly "for you who haven't been to a game before, its OK to sit now." I didn't sit, made an appropriately macho and admittedly immature retort, and informed him how long I've actually owned the seats and asked if he had an opinion now...didn't hear anything from him after that. Just an example of the current state of some newbie season ticket owners.

I hope many fans like this will give up their tickets and become replaced with those who are more deserving. I hope those fans like myself and my family, who have been through the losing and still supported the team, stay put and continue to vocally support their team...the Pats obviously need help in many areas to be successful in 2010, however there is one thing we can control as fans: crowd support. We haven't really had it. Gillette needs to be feared again.

Re: Fans at the Game Today - Boooo To You.

Sorry but the team deserved to be booed.. Have a home game against a team that was defeated by a team that is not in the playoffs.. This team did not show up, I blame everyone except for Faulk and Edleman , the coaches the FO , every one gets a share of the blame pie... But fear not, this will probably be the year some of the waiting list for season tix gets cut down, because the bandwagon is unloading... too bad Im not on the waiting list..

I agree, they deserved to be booed--LATER IN THE GAME, NOT AFTER GIVING UP A FLUKE 1ST PLAY TD AND THEN GOING THREE AND OUT. ABSOLUTELY UNFORGIVABLE. STUPID FANS THAT ARE SO ENTITLED AND SOFT--JUST LIKE THE TEAM WAS TODAY.

One poster who was at the game said it was deserved from the start b/c you could tell they came out flat. Give me a F'in break! Seriously, all the early boo birds were, like, clairvoyant??

It is what it is.

Happens to most all teams that are losing at home.

It becomes painful for the faithfull to watch, so they bail.

Is that why someone got stabbed outside a washroom at a Jets game a few years ago?

Agree....overall the boos were deserved, but after first 3 and out as a tad early for that....

At least they were there. You're on your computer at home.

At home in the comfort of heated rooms, a television with the best angles of the game, and quick and easy access to food, drink, and restroom without waiting in line or paying criminal prices.

There were plenty of empty seats, given the frigid conditions and the less-than-promising outlook of the team. With the Patriots trailing 14-0, like, two minutes into the game, I don't blame those that did brave the elements for hours and paid their hard earned money to see the team whimper into the offseason.

Those of us lamenting the team's downfall from our computers, are really no better than those doing so at the game. Frankly, I would rather the fans boo, than be completely indifferent.

This happens all the time, teams that are bad get all the hardcore crazy fans going to games, the good, popular teams (pats popularity has obv boomed last 10 years) get more of the fairweather fans, ticket prices go up, and the more common fan can't go to the game.

I'm sure other NFL teams have this problem, as do the other really good american sport teams. Man Utd had the same problem a few years back, probably still do.

I went to the wembly game, and tbh Football is better watched on TV, i loved the experience but the game is just really well done on TV. Better than any other sport.
