Charlie Casserly: "Patriots fans, get used to Edelman, Welker needs 10-12 months"

I'm guessing because we've learned BB isn't the biggest Charlie fan, we're going to ***** and whine about everything that comes out of his mouth, right?

Sadly, you can count on it.

I don't know what "initial reports" you're talking about, but we've not been given any official reports on it at all. It's all speculation based upon sources, and Casserly was clear in noting that his timeline was based upon his experience with the ACL/MCL inury. He wasn't claiming that he was the primary physician on the case or anything.

The problem with Casserly's experience is that it is outdated though. Casserly's last season associated with a team in the the NFL was the 2005 season. That is almost five years. In sports medicine, that is a really long time. Players come back faster than they did 5 years ago.

If you were Charlie Casserly and you were just called out on knowing "absolutely zero" about the Patriots by Bill Belichick....why would you take the chance and make comments and predictions about the Patriots again??

Go ahead and defend Charlie Casserly, I say he should have stayed away from commenting on how the Patriots are going to handle the situation.

Brady took the same 10-12 months that Casserly was mentioning, and he still isn't consistently back to his former level. Casserly's knowledge sample is as recent as this year.

Casserly has a job to do. A bunch of homers from the most ridiculously oversensitive fan base in sports aren't going to change that.

Brady took 10-12 months because it was 10 months between when he was injured and the start of training camp. Many reports had him ready to go as early as May.

As for Brady's problems, I think in many ways he has it harder to return from such an injury. His is more mental than Welker's. Welker needs to get over the physical aspect, but he doesn't have to get reacclimated to the speed of the game and reading defenses like Brady did since Brady missed an entire season.

As I said, I saw medical studies that there is a chance that Welker could be back and close to 100% in 7 months. I will take medical evidence over Casserly's limited experience. Granted medical evidence says that he could miss the entire season too, but there is a chance of not missing a single game.

He has experience as a GM, not an MD. This is the kind of BS that damages his credibility. There's nothing he can do to respond to Belichick, because Bill was 100% correct. Casserly may be correct, but it would be a product of guesswork.

He wasn't the greatest, but Casserly would actually be respectable if he just stuck to analyzing personel moves and the draft.

I'd love to see Welker return at 100% tomorrow, nevermind 7 months from now. However, bashing Casserly because he's reporting a 10-12 month window is ridiculous.

Also, given what we've seen all season, Brady clearly wasn't ready in May.

Yup...I'm a homer and damn proud of it...and when it comes to medical matters...I have over 20 years of surgical experience...I have an informed opinion....I see Bostonians/New Englanders as having some of the most knowledge of sports anywhere I've been.

Your post wasn't based upon anything but bashing Casserly.

How long did Tate take getting back?

Again, the point is....Why would you go out and predict how the Patriots are going to handle the situation when you just got humiliated nationally on knowing nothing about the Patriots...medically or not?

I'm not bashing him for making the prediction. I am bashing everyone in the media for making predictions. No one knows how long it will take except maybe the doctors who have examined his knee and even then it is more of an educated guess.

As for Brady, I'll say it again that I think his problems were more mental than physical and that he had more mental hurdles to overcome that Welker may not have.

1.) Given that Belichick was wrong in his comments, how was Casserly humiliated?

2.) And again.... Casserly has a job to do.

Why are you bagging on Casserly? Are you expecting Welker to be 100% by February or something?

Why are you bagging on him? Casserly has an axe to grind his motivations are obvious. Why you are so quick to defend him is not. What gives? Are you a Pats fan? I ask this only because it makes no sense why you would have any problem with this poster calling out Casserly. I've been a long time lurker are you are very consistently Anti-Pats. Explain this to me. Are you a member of the media and feel the need to be "unbiased". Because this site is called Patsfans. Fan is short for fanatic, and frankly fans do not have to be unbiased. We as fans can drink the kool-aid. We can chug it, we are expected to. The Patriots dont owe us a damn thing, you need to get the chip off your shoulder. Or and I'm not being facetious here if you are a fan of another team, just admit to it, obviously your negative act has been supported on here for a long time, so its not like you will get banned if you come out as (and this is just my guess) a Jets fan. So put the fireman Ed helmet on and lets debate the Pats out in the open.

Whatever problems anyone might have with Deus Irae in general, I can't see how anyone can be unbiased and still complain about what he said, or what Casserly said. Every injury that happens in the NFL some commentator gives an estimate, and sometimes they are wrong, often they are right.

Given the fact that if Welker goes on PUP he will be eligible to return almost 10 months from now, Casserly made an enormously safe prediction, he's hugging the trunk rather than going out on a limb.

We Pats fans will be lucky if Welker is half the receiver he was next year. I worry if he will every feel comfortable putting pressure on the leg and making the cuts he has always made. Welker, minus agility and speed, is a scary thought.

Gonna be VERY tough for Wes to get back to his old self on this one I fear. But if anyone can do it it is he.

History shows that ACL injuries can take any where from three months (Jerry Rice) to never (David Givens). It's all speculation. The fact that you're sticking up for Charlie Casserly, who has publicly had issues with Bill Belichick in the past, says everything this forum this forum needs to know about your opinions.
