Really Charlie??

Your going to tell the NFL fans what the Patriots are going to do next year regarding Welker and Edelman?

Did you not hear what Belichick had to say about you this week?

Good for you Charlie....Keep talking.

Re: Charlie Casserly "Patriots, get used to Edelman, Welker needs 12 months"

He said 10-12 months, not 12 months. It's iffy based on Edwards and Branch anyway, but a good rehab and PUP stint and being ready after that still is what I expect.

Casserly, has he ever had anything positive to say when the Patriots are involved?

Re: Charlie Casserly "Patriots, get used to Edelman, Welker needs 12 months"

I think being activated off the PUP is a realistic goal, get better Wes!

I think October is a realistic timetable.

Charley had to take a shot at us because he had NOTHING to counter what Belichick said about him this week...

Charley is where he is because of what he is. And Belichick is where he is because of what he is.

You are correct...I just couldn't fit "10-12 months" at the end of my title....I ran out of spaces...:).

Why are you bagging on Casserly? Are you expecting Welker to be 100% by February or something?

which is why WR is a need next year, I think he will be back, but still need to get some WR next year..

How exactly is that a shot?

Do you want him to make something up and say Welker will be back next week just to please the homers?

Re: Charlie Casserly "Patriots, get used to Edelman, Welker needs 12 months"

I think October is a realistic timetable.
The players must be placed on this roster at or before the league-wide 65-man summer roster cutdown to be eligible for this designation, and they must stay on this list for at least the first six weeks of the regular season. After this time teams have 3 weeks to evaluate such players after which each such player must be placed on the 53-man roster, season-ending Injured Reserve (IR) or waivers.
Week 6 Oct 18 TEN 0 @ NE 59
Week 7 Oct 25 NE 35 @ TB 7
Week 8 Bye
Week 9 Nov 08 MIA 17 @ NE 27
FYI being activated off the PUP takes place around October..

Because all initial reports suggest that Welker will be at camp next August...Maybe not game ready, but not missing 2/3 of the season as Casserly would suggest...

Re: Charlie Casserly "Patriots, get used to Edelman, Welker needs 12 months"

FYI being activated off the PUP takes play around October..

More accurately, it can happen any time after Week 6 and until the end of Week 12 (they have three weeks to activate the player, and another three weeks after activating the player to promote him to the 53).

You're not entirely correct on the rules. A team has from Week 6-9 to start practicing a player. They then have another three weeks to activate the player. It could take up to Week 12.

NFL Injury Analyst on ESPN: Might take 2 years to get back to his form, because he's a quick, mobile WR.

It took Brady about 12-14 months to get back to form, but he's not mobile to begin with. Welker's equivalent would be December or January of next season, or a bit earlier if he doesn't get an infection like Brady did. By the start of the 2011 season, Welker could be back to full form.

Before the injury, we wanted an additional receiver, and now we need at least two good receivers, since we're left with just Moss.

He really shouldn't be prognosticating.

In any case, imagine what Edelman could do if he and Brady get can get on the same page as well as Brady and Welker have. . . .

You know what? No one knows how long it will take for Welker to recover. No one other than Welker's doctors even know the extent of the injury. Most medical journals who study the injury for NFL WRs and RBs say the recovery time is anywhere from 7 months to 18 months and the chances of the player returning to preinjury form pretty quickly is 68%. I will trust a journal publication from a licensed specialist over a football analyst who hasn't been associated with a team and intimate knowledge of what goes on with a football team's medical staff in a half a decade.

I'm guessing because we've learned BB isn't the biggest Charlie fan, we're going to ***** and whine about everything that comes out of his mouth, right?

I don't know what "initial reports" you're talking about, but we've not been given any official reports on it at all. It's all speculation based upon sources, and Casserly was clear in noting that his timeline was based upon his experience with the ACL/MCL inury. He wasn't claiming that he was the primary physician on the case or anything.

The toughest part of coming back from an ACL injury is the mental part...being afraid to make the cuts and putting pressure on the knee.

I say that in more than 30 years of watching the NFL...Wes Welker is one of, if not, the toughest bastard I have ever seen. That includes mental toughness as well as physical.

I would not bet against him being at camp...barring any setbacks, like Brady had.
