If I recall during the playoffs the lots have opened possibly 30 minutes earlier, does anyone know for sure if that's accurate?

Given the forecast what is the best "cold weather" tip you can share? Frankly if you survived the playoff game against the Titans as I did (in the very last row of the 300's) you already know how to prepare!

Funny. I was at the Titans-Patriots playoff that night, too. Coldest night on record. That night, I prayed that there was no overtime, as my legs & face was near frozen. The bathroom was packed, and it was because it had heat..

As for Sunday's game, I think you can bring a blanket along.

I usually park in those lots near McDonalds. It's quicker exit (1A).

I'd endure that again if it meant a 1st round bye and a 14-2 record..:p

Everyone had beersicles that night and my hand and foot warmers faded out late 3rd qtr thank goodness Adam hit that field goal as OT would have been brutal!

Blood alcohol level of at least .15 is a great start.

Layers, whiskey, and more layers.

Put hand warmers & foot warmers in your boots and gloves/mittens. Wear long underwear and consider wearing snowpants. Not very fashionable but you'll feel a lot warmer if you dress as if you are going skiing on a cold windy day.

Layer and Drink. Layer and Drink.

Personally I have never found alcohol and cold weather a good combo.

For clothing: layer with polyester (Under Armour is great, and fleece). You need stuff that breathes and wicks moisture away so your skin isn't damp. Stay away from cotton at all costs.

I too remember the Titan game. Put a beer in the seat holder, within 10 minutes ice was forming at the top!
The lots near McDonalds are the best. You play a little extra but you have a express lane due north thru to Rt 95. Can save you 20'-30'

Layer and Drink. Layer and Drink.

When I read your response fast, I thought you said "Lawyers and drink. Lawyers and drink." I suppose this could be a good strategy to get placed in a warm cell by the end of the game! :)

Have you ever tried hot chocolate and peppermint shnapps? How about coffee and Kahlua? You have to think outside the box (or bottle as it were). :)

Are you going to the game?

Of course I'll be at the game! I've been to all but two home games since 1994.

Here's my take on alcohol and caffeine in cold weather: Alcohol expands the capillaries near the surface of your skin causing loss of core body heat. Eventually you're going to get the chills. Caffeine is a diuretic that makes you pee, and the urge is exacerbated by being cold. That's why I stay away from both in cold weather. I'm always amazed at the people who drink cold beer at cold football games. I like beer, but not outdoors when it's below freezing!

Well... put your arms down when you get to the game.

Going to the game on sunday for the first time in a few years. Coming from the west/495 way. How much more are the McDonalds lots? Can you get into them around 1100 or so or are they already filled up? What about taking the train in from Mansfield? Is 30 mins after the game realistic or is it too rushed
thanks
jeff

I fully endorse this post. I was at that Titans playoff game too and had hand and foot warmers, snow pants and I borrowed my Dads old Alaskan Pipeline winter coat (yes a coat specifically designed for workers who worked on the Alaskan Pipeline) . I looked like a freak but I was toasty warm :)
