I'm not able to watch all the games, but I DVR'd the Texans game, and for some reason, decided to focus on Jarvis Green when he was in there. I saw no push, no energy, no plays. Nothing. Has he been like this all season?

He had an injury mid-season, tough to say how much impact that had. That being said, I've noticed he hasn't been nearly as effective rushing the passer as in years past, and that's likely because with Seymour gone he's had to play in more situations and more snaps. I don't think he's ever been starter quality, more like a good backup and great 3rd down specialist (prior to this year).

But again, injuries have a funny way of changing things pretty drastically and pretty quickly.

Not having Wilfork and Warren out there with him makes a difference too.

He seems to be playing a little better lately. Last couple of years hes been banged up. Hes a backup as opposed to being a pass rush threat that needs to be accounted for like he was in the past on passing downs.

My .02$

I like Green..We need to keep him,I think his dream of being a starter is over but he is one helluva backup DL IMO

He's JAG. Makes way to much money to justify. He's also kind of old, I think he's 30. I know he's older than Seymour.

Time to get younger. What's to lose?

I think that Green is pretty decent. A good backup, realistically. However, I don't think he's making backup money, so it may be time to get rid of him.

He seems to be a hard runner but hasn't really gotten the playing time to actually produce. (Pats fan excuse intended)

He's a DL :idontgetit:

It seems to me that Green is really a PT player at best. When the Pats leave him in too long, he wears down and then is JAG.

His role has been a situational player and that is when he performs best.

I can see resigning him at a reasonable rate if we can not get a legitimiate developmental DE in the draft.

I wasn't a fan of Green even when many people were insisting that he was just fine replacing Seymour as a starter, so it's probably pretty clear how I feel about him now. Good, likable guy, and a hard worker, but he just doesn't seem to do anything very well anymore. He was never particularly good against the run, and now he's not rushing the passer either. I could excuse it this year, since he's hurt, but this is how it's been since 2007. Given his salary, I'd be surprised if he's around much longer, although I've been saying that for 2 years now, so wtf do I know

Well, he used to be pretty good at getting to the quarterback. Now? Not so much. It also appears that he's easier to run on then the rest of our D-Line as there have been quite a few 10+ yard runs broken off of his side of the defense (though, that doesn't say much for the OLB play either). Bottom line is that if he wants to finish his career in New Orleans, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be allowed to do so.

As long as they #99, I'd be all for a cheaper back-up player.

Been quite impressed with Wright and would love to see him rotating in these big games. Imagine if Vince is still feeling fresh by the fourth quarter!

Can`t remember any big play he made in last 2 years.

Ok I give up. I've seen the term "JAG" only on this site and I've seen it several times and I can't figure out what it means. If there is anyone out there with a heart of gold, that can resist the urge to mess with me with bogus meanings, let me know what it means it would be greatly appreciated :)

"Just A Guy" or "Just Another Guy" meaning your uncle Paul could take his place with little to no drop-off.

Just another guy

i think he is good as dept just like wright, he is not big a nuff to be a ture 2 gap DE in BB 3-4 he is better off in a 1 gap system where he can get after the QB more or only used on 3rd down as a pass rusher

but over all he is OK i would like for the pats to resign him but if he is gone next year i wont loose any sleep over it i could see denver offering him a few more buck's then the pats will

Jarvis is no longer the Manning-killer of the Good Old Days (2001-04); he is a shell of his former self, and will not be with the team next season, even if Bill doesn't provide us with an adequate replacement (no shock there).
