It's Thursday and coming up is the first playoff game for the Patriots since the 2007 season. I'm starting to get both nervous and excited.

So, let see how the teams match up in certain areas of the game.

1.When the Ravens run the ball- who has the advantage- Raven or Patriots? How will the Patriots be able to stop the Ravens running game?

2 .When the Patriots run the ball- who has the advantage- Raven or Patriots? How will the Patriots be able run the ball effectively enough against the Raven #2 ranked run defense, to make teh passing game more effective?

3.When the Ravens pass- advantage Ravens or Patriots?

How will the Patriots cover Mason?
How will the Patriots cover Heap?
How will the Patriots put pressure on Flacco?

4. When the Patriots pass- who has the advantage Patriots or Ravens?

How will the Patriots protect Brady from the rush and blitz?

Will they go to the short passing game of dink and dunk to slow down the rush and open up the down field passes?

What role will the TE"s play in the passing game this week?

quite concerned about our tackling in the running game.

They'll cover Mason the same way they did in the 2nd half of the first game. Safety help inside not over the top. The problem is Heap has really gelled with Flacco late this season. I think stopping him from getting critical 3rd down receptions will be the key. 5 men will be the pressure du jour. I think they'll want to push him up in the pocket with some decent edge pressure. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see some fronts with only two DL's on third down. Rice can be a killer in the passing game so they'll have more Lb's for 3rd down. If I were guessing.....

Didn't know where to put this so here it is. Jarvis Green coming up on Sirius NFL.

They will need attempts. If they go into this game and balance passing and running atempts they win. I don't care if they get 100 yrds or not they need attempts, and then the Ravens secondary will be had.... But we have to get the attempts, we can't just let Ed Reed sit back and ball hawk, he needs to be creepin up.

Well, prior to playing us, Baltimore did not give up a rushing TD, and in our game, they gave up two. The first, ironically, to Brady on a QB sneak which nobody ever thought was coming, and the 2nd to Morris.

On top of which Taylor has traditionally performed well against the Ravens. He is not afraid of Lewis.

I don't think our run game will suffer too much.

Both when the Ravens run and when we run, they have the advantage. Ray Rice scorched us earlier in the season and McGahee is starting to turn it on. I doubt we will be able to run the ball consistently against their D. Whenever we pass or they Pass we have the advantage. Their secondary is not very good and Joe Flacco has been quite average this season. We need to get a lead and put PRESSURE on Flacco. The Ravens are not good coming from behind.

The Ravens run the ball very effectively we need to get points on the board ASAP so they abandon the run game, Ray Rice is one of the best young backs in the league and dangerous in space. If we force them to win with Flacco I think the game is ours to loose hes not good under pressure at all.

The Ravens have the advantage on paper if we run the ball because their defense does not surrender many rushing yards. However if we can establish the running game it will help our offense tremendously by making the offense NOT one dimensional and will open the play action. I think we can run the ball on the Ravens but its not going to be consistent but it all comes down to "if it works use it" mentality.. I see the key match-up for the run game being Ngata vs Mankins and for the pass game obviously stopping Suggs.

Our playoff run really depends on the play of the 5 offensive linemen. We'll go as deep as they allow us to I feel.

this.

as long as brady has time in the pocket i think we'll be fine offensively

Yes, but we will not be able to hit a home run early because Brady will not have time to drop back unless the defense has to worry about the run. Our fourth quarter collapses seem to be games in which we gave up on the run. 2-3 yards in the first half can become 4-5 yards in the second if you commit to it. We have depth at RB and we need to use it. Forcing Baltimore to pass is great, but not at the price of abandoning the run. Quick short passes will be a staple. I expect lots of screens to Edelman and Faulk, maybe an end-around to Slater (he is the best speed we have on the offense and does not need vision to find the corner), and strikes to the TEs, but I hope we also pound away with Morris, Taylor and Maroney even if it only for a couple of yards. The game will be close, and the defense will have to hold up, but they will not score a lot running. Hammer away, then late in the game, play action to Moss.

if our 2nd half woees continue and we keep going 3 and out in critical situations then the defense wont be able to hold up.
Iam quite worried about our poor tackling with their RB and how mankins and koppen hold up against ngata.
Edelman will be serviceable but this is the playoffs and he will find it hard to get seperation and recognize coverages as easily .Maybe WR screens but Ravens defense plays too well for those to work all the time.Hopefully we can secure some sort of lead and play from ahead.

I'm a big pats fan from michigan. I bought four tickets to the game but I can only use two. I want to sell the other two so I don't lose out. I paid 135 each for them but I will take 130. They are section 121 row 31. If anybody is interested please email me at [email protected]...I didn't want some ravens fan to get them so I didn't post them on stubhub.
