If you had no idea where they were picked, judging from their performance this season, where would you have picked them? (Take into account injuries, so I think it's not fair to evaluate Tate, although I have high hopes for him)

Round/Overall/Name/My pick
2 34 Pat Chung (2)
2 40 Ron Brace (5)
2 41 Darius Butler (2)
2 58 Sebastian Vollmer (1)
3 83 Brandon Tate (Injured but also 3)
3 97 Tyrone McKenzie (Injured no opinion)
4 123 Rich Ohrnberger (6)
5 170 George Bussey (7)
6 198 Jake Ingram (4)
6 207 Myron Pryor (3)
7 232 Julian Edelman (2)
7 234 Darryl Richard (7)

Undrafted

Brian Hoyer (3)
Terence Nunn (5)
Tyree Barnes (same)
Jermail Porter (same)
Eric Kettani (same)

Re: 2009 Rookies : pick position

Vollmer would have had a legitimate shot of going first overall in a re-draft. He's been the absolute pick of the OT's and one of the best in the league full stop.

I think Butler would have gone in the first as well.

Hmmmmm.....

Chung - third round (he's done alright and has masses of potential).

Brace - fifth round (I agree with your assessment Nab)

Butler - first round (has suffered due to the disgraceful pass rush)

Vollmer - first round (best OT in the Draft, and a potential stud - hasn't given up a sack in around 600 snaps)

Tate - no grade (you can't grade an injured player)

McKenzie - no grade (as above, although had he been on the field I get the feeling he'd have been fantastic)

Ohrnberger - sixth (was hoping we'd have seen more of him, saying that, Mankins and Neal have been very good especially Neal, and Connolly's done well)

Bussey - no grade (injured)

Ingram - sixth (faultless in terms of getting the ball away although he was struggling with pressure earlier in the year)

Pryor - second round (probably the second best rookie DT in the entire Draft - hope to see him play more alongside Vince)

Edelman - second round (a converted QB being touted as a future star? He's doing something right)

Richard - UDFA (very unlucky to see us move to the 4-3 and see the likes of Pryor play so well).

Hoyer - fourth (has looked capable, but still only a back up - I like him though)

Nunn - sixth (flashed in camp, but is that enough?)

Barnes, Kettani, Porter - UDFA.

Very very happy with the Draft class. Now, if we can add some linemen, pass-rushers and a wide receiver this year, we'll be truly set.....

Re: 2009 Rookies : pick position

Pat Chung- A little bit lower, but I still love the kid, Meriweather steals him playing time- 40 overall

Ron Brace-Way lower, BB could play him more, but he doesn't for a reason- 90 overall

Butler-I still think he is a very good Corner, has tons of talent- 35 overall

Vollmer-What of a player, one of the draft steals if not the best one- 10th overall

Edelman-For me, will be the arguably the best reciever in the draft, way better than harvin, first game with a lot of playing time, almost 100 yards and 10 receptions- 12th overall

Pryor- It was a steal, no question, how could NFL teams pass a kid like this, what a player, he is playing way better than Brace- 45 overall

I have a lot of hopes in Tate, he will be great in ST, and with BB help him to be a very good WR, and then we'll have the best QB ever passing to a four headed monster in Moss-Welker-Edelman-Tate :)

McKenzie- I really don't know what to expect, he could be a steal, but if he plays bad, whatever, we drafted him 97th overall, so we didn't waste a lot of things. Hope he develops into a great player.

He had 103 yards :)

Re: 2009 Rookies : pick position

Round/Overall/Name/My pick
2 34 Pat Chung (3) I was very disappointed me missed out on Delmas
2 40 Ron Brace (3) Big guys like this don't last very long. Be patient.
2 41 Darius Butler (1) My binky after the combine & he's made me look like a guru
2 58 Sebastian Vollmer (1) Never even heard of the man prior to his name being called, but have to admit that Bill found another Mankin like prospect
6 207 Myron Pryor (3)
7 232 Julian Edelman (3) Another great find, but let's not go overboard. The system plays into his hands quite nicely.

Re: 2009 Rookies : pick position

Fun thread.

Vollmer is a real draft gem. Butler looks great too, and Edelman is promising. All the other guys are contributing.

Re: 2009 Rookies : pick position

Vollmer - first round (best OT in the Draft, and a potential stud - hasn't given up a sack in around 600 snaps)

If Michael Oher has a movie "The Blind Side", Vollmer deserves one too - Die Blinde Seite. :)

PS: I'm still waiting for Crable's "rookie" season.

All I can say is Im glad we got Myron Pryor since Brace hasnt shown anything yet. Im hoping Brace isnt another 2nd round bust.

Beg to differ on this one, BMW. I think you went a little overboard. I like Edelman too, but I'd trade him for Percy Harvin in a nanosecond.
