Ravens defense improved since Pats game

So, we did what we were supposed to on defense (limit the points a team scores) and thats labled as a bad thing? Sounds like pointless banter to me.

Seems like the blind is leading the blind over here.

Your secondary was garbage before the bye, then you play 3 games against top 10 passing teams (taking out the Dixon led steelers game) and then 4 games against the bottom of the league passing teams. And 3 in the middle.

It wasn't exactly murderers row. Nothing blind about it. Do you think it was a coincidence that your passing defense improved dramatically over the past ten weeks when you played 7 games against mediocre to terrible passing teams?

The passing defense was not the ONLY catagory inwhich was improved upon. Fact is we were stuggling in the run game too.
Our schedule was FAR and away tougher then yours, don't even try that! Why are you trying to battle this? Seems you like pissing in the wind too.

What special things did Big Ben do over Dixon? We held the Steelers ( w/Big Jen) to under 300 TOTAL yards of offense. So, maybe you should actually know the stats within the game before coming in like you know what the hell you are talking about.

Hey Sport

Stats are great. I know the game. Here's a hint:

An offense tends to not rack up as many yards as normal if they start deep in the opponents territory. Ya might want to "stat" over and look at where the Squeelers got the ball.

The only chance they got seriously rack up yards was at the end of the first half. (That's that 94 yard TD drive)

So much for your stats. What's next?

Yup

Detroit, Chicago, Kansas City,Oakland, and Cleveland (twice) was murderer's row.

Sport, we talk football here. The bafoon auditions are over at the Jets site.

Here's the part where you argue that you had to play Indy and Denver.

It wasnt like they're were scoring on every drive, I don't see the reasoning. If the Defense steps up and keeps them out of the Endzone/uprights how is that a bad thing? Think about it, the field was sooo short and yet "moved the ball at will" but only scored 23 points with all of those short field chances. Did you see the RUSHING stats? LOL, let me guess, they didnt have far to go so rushing yards were hard to come by.

And San diego, Minnesota, Green Bay , the Pats ofcourse. So, "Sport" look at the WHOLE picture.

Btw, giving misc. Knicknames are only filler in an argument.

You know that you don't have to defend your team at every corner, right?

The Ravens haven't beaten a single quality opponent outside of week two in San Diego, period.

Baltimore has certainly come close in virtually every single loss, as Pats fans know well, but the fact remains that we've still lost all those games.

Our stats look good because we've been respectable to moderately bad against good teams, yet absolutely demolished the bottom-feeder squads.

There really isn't an argument about anything that I've said, unless you want to contend that Dennis Dixon and the Steelers, who didn't make the playoffs, was a quality win in Baltimore, or the playoff-less Denver Broncos, who finished their season 2-8, was a high-caliber win in Baltimore.

So then, if it happens this week you just change your song into "the ravens have only beaten two quality teams" We beat the teams we were supposed to and played the others tight. Granted, close isn't good enough.

No, I'll say that the Ravens actually are actually heating up at the right time of the year, and not just beating up on bad teams.

As it stands right now, though, we've gotten all excited about blowing out a Detroit team by 40+ points, and crushing the Bears by 20+, but the fact remains that even on hot-streaks, any team that is remotely competitive has beaten us.

There is a reason why we've lost every close game, and it's not bad luck nor coincidence. . .

I was never excited about the blowout victories of DET or Chi, I'm excited about the playoffs and the chances we have been alloted to turn a decent season into a good one.

Uhhhh Sport, like ya know review your post.

Who's the clown beating his chest over less than 300 yards of offense?
(Answer: that be ewe)

Simple explanation- Squeelers needed few yards to get game winning points.
IOW- Your "stat" is like bogus

I saw the rushing yards. So what?
(Answer: Know big deal)

Simple explanation- Matriculation of the football down the field was facilitated through the use of the "air assult". As such, the ground attack was neither needed nor exercised. A side benefit was the amusement enjoyed through the bafoonish "chest pounding" exercised by the clown segment of the Baltimore fanbase over the fact that "23 yards" rushing was produced.

This segment of their fanbase can be readily identified through through the quotation of "stats". As Brian Billick said in 2001, "Stats are for idiots and losers".

Yup, like New Orleans was a creme puff. The only lay up we had was after the Atlanta game.

Fine, I just think that it's trivial to defend a team ceaselessly when they haven't done much to warrant a strong backing.

Your defense is actually improved. My guess is the San Diego game wasn't the wakeup call it should have been with SD putting up over 400 yards of offense.

That's probably cost you the division.

Hey Socrates, drop the "scholarly drivel" They TRIED to run the ball, it was deemed ineffective and HAD to resort to the pass. It's not chest pounding one bit, it's factual. Seems someone has a hardon for the STEALERS.

WTF does the Pats schedule have to do with who your passing defense faced? Try to stay on topic. ;)

Far and away tougher? Are you sure about that? Now if by far and away means a two win difference, then sure, you are correct.

NE Opponents: 132 - 124
Bal Opponents: 134 - 122

Teams with a winning record

NE: 7
Bal: 8

Teams 500 or better

NE: 10
Bal: 10

Playoff teams

NE: 5
Bal: 7

Didn't you say something about knowing the stats before talking or something to that affect earlier in this thread?

Did you take into account WHERE each tough game was played? Now, you're telling me to stay on topic but when a comparison to your team was made.. I obliged and went with it.

Alright, you clearly cannot have an intelligent debate.

1. I never compared the Pats to the Ravens at any point until you brought up the strength of schedule.
2. When you realized your argument was beyond weak, you divert to the location of the game? Really? Really?

So I'm done. And I assume we won't see much of you after Sunday!
