Ravens defense improved since Pats game

Their corners were bad when we played them, with all the injuries they've suffered in the secondary makes them even worse now.

I might have to agree with the CB's being bad but the secondary is now playing as a unit v.s. individual players TRYING to make plays. MAttison was still coming into his own and learning the strength/weaknesses of his defense. We are a totally different type of defense then in the past. We play more base and a lot less outside blitzing. The responsibility of the front line is not only to plug the gaps and keep guys of the LB's but to get penetration from the middle (lol).

The Patriots aren't the same team that played the Jets back in September, so we shouldn't assume the Ravens are the same team that we saw the first time around. The numbers certainly indicate that the Ravens' defense has improved since then, regardless of their injuries.

Seems like both teams utilize a bend-don't break defense in order to cover up some deficiencies, as opposed to the attacking defenses that are willing to give up an occasional big play in exchange for a larger number of turnovers and big plays by their defense.

worst case, we get the an early draft pick

we're already slotted to pick at no. 25

No, they are not. Not yet.

Rules have changed for the upcoming draft, IF the Patriots should lose on Sunday they are going to get at most the 23rd slot and possibly the 22nd slot if the Packers lose.

My mistake, you are right.

Let me translate:

Our defense was getting run over by good or reasonable teams. However, when we hit a streak of Detroit type teams, we padded our stats.

Anyone see how we crushed Oakland's offense?

It's obvious you are just being a ****. Let me translate it for you, since it seems comprehension is lacking on your behalf.... Players were not falling inline with the Mattison approach to things (defense). They were playing out of postion and with the Rex Ryan mentality of no control and no real assignment. Guys are NOW playing within the scheme, not being as selfish and understand the overall concept of the new DC. The numbers dont lie, things have turned around well since the bye week ( week 7). Anyone see how the damn BILLS crushed the Pats Defense?

How did the Bills crush the Pats D? Which game?

Yup and it showed against Detroit, Chicago, Oakland, and the non Big Ben Steelers.

Thanks for playing.

What special things did Big Ben do over Dixon? We held the Steelers ( w/Big Jen) to under 300 TOTAL yards of offense. So, maybe you should actually know the stats within the game before coming in like you know what the hell you are talking about.

Charlie Frye and Jamarcus Russell combined last week for 27-39-282 in a must win game for the Ravens. It's only one game but it's tough to be overly concerned about that pass defense.

Not sure how you can argue against his point? As you said the numbers don't lie. Here are the offensive passing rankings of your last 10 opponents:

Den - 13th
Cin - 26th
Cle - 32nd
Indy - 2nd
Pit - 9th
GB - 7th
Det - 21st
Chi - 17th
Pit - 9th
Oak - 29th

Not to mention the other two games against the Browns and Bengals.

So, we did what we were supposed to on defense (limit the points a team scores) and thats labled as a bad thing? Sounds like pointless banter to me.

Seems like the blind is leading the blind over here.
