South Florida DE Jason Paul-Pierre will forgo his final season with the Bulls and enter the NFL Draft.

JPP only played one year at USF after transferring from JUCO, but paced Jim Leavitt's annually stout defense with 6.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss, and forced a pair of fumbles. The 6'6/265-pound speed rusher is still raw, but offers boatloads of upside and will likely work out very well in February.

I agree. He's going to need at least a year before he contributes, but he sort of reminds me of a bigger, pre-hip injury, Rosey Colvin. If he develops to his potential, he could be a man among boys out there...a Peppers-type.

Jason Pierre-Paul does indeed have frightening potential, but it's mostly potential right now. I compare him to 2 former Florida DE prospects: his upside is Javon Kearse (#16 in 1999); his downside is Jarvis Moss (#17 in 2007). One was all pro, the other a bust. I suspect JPP will go somewhere in the same territory - borderline top 15-20.

If he fell to the 2nd round I would be all for it, but I wouldn't reach in the 1st round, and suspect someone will. I also think Austen Mason is a safer prospect with almost as much upside as JPP, who can be had more cheaply. Both have the size, speed and range to be ideal "weak side" OLB prospects. Dryheat compared JPP to a bigger Rosie Colvin, and, like Colvin, I see both Pierre-Paul and Lane playing the weakside at 3-4 OLB, as opposed to guys like Carlos Dunlap or Greg Romeus, who would likely play the strong side (which Willie McG and Mike Vrabel played).
