Hey gang:

What are some of the key things you think we need to do against the Ravens this week for the win?

Personally, I don't think because #83 is out we need to change all that much. Yes it is a lot for a rookie to do to fill Wes' shoes, but I don't think we should abandon the slot that much. We need to get this kid the ball, I think he can make plays.

The plays we don't get him the ball I would like to see Taylor and Maroney (just hang on to the rock) pound the ball. The guys up front need to have a huge game as always. I think with Reed back there, even coming off an injury, throws to Moss should be limited....spread the field? take in the tight ends and pound it a bit?

I think it should be a good game....

Stop the run.

Do that, we'll win.

Stop the run.

Do that, we'll win.

That is a pretty simple answer but very accurate, shut down the run and force
Flacco to beat you.The only weapon they have is Mason cover him and shadow Heep and tha Pats should win.."Should win" !!!!

1. Don't turn over the ball Ravens thrive on turnovers and are in the top five in takeaways.

2. Stop/contain the kickoff return Lardarius Webb is a killer on KR and we have to stop that. I think they lead the NFL in average KR return.

3. RZ offense execution. This is nothing new- we know Balt excels in RZ defense, so we have to place emphasis on breaking through the RZ once we get there. Our heavy sets (2 RB +) seems to be working, so hopefully we continue to use that.

4. Defense penetration/containing Mason: If you saw the Raiders/Balt game, you saw that a big reason the Raiders stayed in the game was because they found a way to penetrate and get to Flacco, through a variety of blitzes and rushes using stunts, slants, and twists. When you can get to Flacco, you can throw him off his game. Also when you take away Mason, Flacco looks lost and gets out of rhythm. Sort of like Brady without Welker. The only reason the Raiders lost was because Frye went down and was replaced by none other than Jamarcus Russell who found a way to turn over the ball twice. Even then, they were still in the game until the last 5 or so minutes.

5. And now the scary part: scoring in the 2nd half. Balt scores more in the 2nd half than they do in the first. Either we get out to a fast start and trust our defense, or we find a way to score even though we never really got that 2nd half monkey off our back.

Welker was the safety-valve on blitzes, Brady will need someone for that, hopefully Edelman is up for the challenge. Ravens will bring it knowing Welker is out.

Forcing Flacco to throw on the run, hope to hear the term 'coverage sack' a lot this weekend.

This game will be about field position. Specials teams factor will be huge. Someone needs to fill in admirably for the Pats punts, and the kickoff/return teams need to on their game. We've got the better placekicker, but they've got the better return teams.

Agree with RZ/run-game and also (hopefully) creating a decent first half-lead.

Lardarius Webb is on IR with a torn MCL, Jalen Parmele is our current returner and is every bit as good as Webb. He is avg. 30 yds per IIRC.

My one key to victory is to score more points than our opponents. If we can do that I give us a good shot at winning. :D
