Bulaga could also play guard in the NFL - as Robert Gallery made a similar transition.

Wow, Hawkeye front pursuit and penetration shutting down that GT option offense! :)

Clayborn in 2011 and Binns in 2012 will be highly sought after DE's.

Ricky Stanzi already 8/8 w/2TDs, with 4:04 remaining in the first.

Angerer also extremely effective shutting down the run up the middle.

Unfortunately, I think Angerer will get overlooked due to his size. He is a football player.

I am loving what I see from Iowa OLB A.J. Edds! He's big enough, he plays a position (sorta) that we need, so not a conversion project, he's covering backs and TEs (and jumping routes), and he's all over the field. If he isn't making the tackle he's right next to whoever is.

Iowa MLB Pat Angerer looks fantastic.

Iowa RT Kyle Calloway is making me smile too.

GT DE Rodgers bullrushed the crap out of Iowa LT Brian Bulaga.

Iowa TE Tony Moeaki is making some nice plays.

Kyle Calloway, but yeah.

Tony Moeaki is stealing the show. Showing his blocking skills and has made some nice catches.

I was impressed with Bulaga in this game....I only watched the first half and he works with a good base, has great hands and decent footwork.....He was good cutting off LB pursuit down field as well.....I think he will translate good to a RT/RG like Mayo has said and I wouldn't be opposed to snagging him in the draft......If we could get Iupati (sp?) and bulaga in this draft and in 2011 be starting with those 2 plus vollmer we could have a line built for the future....

If anyone has this game recorded, go back and watch #95 Karl Klug for Iowa. He's a 255 pound DE playing inside at DT and manhandling GT's OL, they can NOT block him one on one and are double and triple teaming him. I've seen two chop blocks against him, one was flagged. There is always a huge pile of white jerseys around him, he's the reason GT can't run inside. Most of GT's yardage is going to the right away from him. It's now the start of the 4th Qtr and he may be wearing down some against the hawgs in the OL, but he's been awesome through three quarters. Very good range, if he's playing this way next season I want BB to draft him for OLB on the defensive left.

EDIT: I didn't catch when they did it, but GT pulled their starting LG a 6'4" 280 RS SO in favor of a 6'3" 308 RS FR to get more beef on Klug - even worn down in the 4th Qtr he couldn't be moved off the LOS though the new kid was able to block him one on one more often.

Spievey, CB, Iowa - Not a good test for him.
Angerer, LB, Iowa - 4-3 MLB, nice kid, but not a fit here.
Edds, LB, Iowa - Good looking LB, too bad NE already has McKenzie.
Moeaki, TE, Iowa - You sold me, or rather he did. He's now my #1 TE for NE.
Bulaga, LT, Iowa - I don't think he slides to NE, but I see why folks like him.
Calloway, RT, Iowa - They moved him to RG in this game, he looked good there and appeared to have good enough feet to play RT.
Clayborn, DL, Iowa (2011) - Good looking DE, but he was free to make plays because GT had to focus on his partner Klug.
Binns, DL, Iowa (2011/12) - Okay.
Sash, S, (2011) - Okay.

Morgan, 4-3 DE, GT - He was playing up on his feet as a 3-4 OLB on several plays and dropped in coverage. He's McGinest smooth in zone coverage, and I'd like to see more "urgency" from him, but I like him as a NE-style OLB/DE.
Thomas, WR, GT - Didn't get used much.
Dwyer, RB, GT - Klug shut him down.
In addition, if Dace Richardson doesn't get another year of eligibility for Iowa, he'd be a decent Guard option in the late rounds.

If GT's Burnett comes out in this draft he'd be a good Safety prospect.

GT LB Sedrick Griffin is a consideration as a UDFA STs type, he looked good in coverage against the TEs.

As I noted above, Klug for Iowa was dominant on the DL, he sucked up blockers like a sponge and freed up the other defenders to make plays - and more often then not he got a piece of the runner too.

Thanks Box, missed the game.

Interested about Klug.

I like Edds.. wouldn't mind taking him if available on day 2.

Dace has said that he is gone.

Klug has been solid all year for the Hawkeyes, but really needs to beef up. Huge linemen are able to put a hurt on him.

The best thing about Edds is that he has TONS of experience in coverage. The Hawkeyes almost NEVER play a nickel or dime, so he covers slot receivers and tight ends all the time.

I'd trade up into the 3rd round to take him.

Box, could you possibly expand more on your thoughts on Morgan from last night?

I hope Klug stays right where he is and BB can grab him to play out on the edge again - the guy showed some incredible strength and leverage at DT and there's no doubt that a 3-4 team, or even a 4-3 team that played him on the edge, would have an A-1 run stuffer who could also generate some pressure on the passer.

The Morgan I saw is just terrible against the run. Very painful to watch.

By "urgency," I was thinking about the better pass rushers and their battle to get to that QB, he did a good job against a good OL, but unless he was or has been ill and is still a little weak, he just didn't "battle" hard enough for what I was expecting.

There were plays where he was too easily blocked in the run game also, even granting that Moeaki is a good blocker, Morgan should still have been able to have gotten off the block a little quicker.

His production is clearly good over the past two years, and he comes from a two-gap system, he was playing in a two-point stance as a 3-4 OLB about a quarter of the plays and has the measurables, but absent some reason to explain an 'apparent' (to my eye) lack of intensity, I'd not use a first round pick on him, one of the Ten/Jax picks is safer.
