What do you think of Hoyer?

Would have been nice to see more of him ... seems like he has a lively arm.

Did he show anything in the having some touch and awareness departments?

He was pretty sharp- good arm and accuracy, good footwork, mechanism and reads. The only downside to his game is mostly a matter of timing with his receivers, since as you saw he overshot Edelman at least twice. He has to allow for those receivers coming out of their breaks clean.

I personally thought he would have tied the game if Neal didn't bite on that Williams dropback fake and strongside rush and get flagged for that game killer of a hold.

This kid has poise and agility. He also follows the company line.

I think this is the best backup QB we've had in a long time.

To my untrained eye, he just has an "it" quality... a type of decisiveness/confidence that resembles part of Brady's game. Now understand I'm not going to get ahead of myself, it was a small sample size. And at first glance, he does look better than Cassel.

Otherwise, this is the most confident I've been in a backup in a long time. He is clearly capable of running the spread, for the most part. He has the most athleticism at the position since Bishop. The fact that he is the only QB on the roster behind Brady (not counting Edelman and Faulk) should tell you that the CS likes him too, so I have to assume he is performing well in practice all season also.

I did a double take the first time I saw that many recievers on the field with Hoyer as QB.

I'm glad everyone has been able to recognize that Hoyer is better than Cassel in his limited work. Hell, I was so impressed with him that I think he's better than Brady. Give me Hoyer over Manning any day of the week.

He kind of reminded me of Cassell with his arm and running ability, except with a Telly Savalas hair cut.

I have heard from some of the players who catches balls from Hoyer and they say when you catch a ball from him, you go and shake your hands from pain because he cracks them in with force.
As a matter of fact, Chris Baker intimated Hoyer too much arms strength when he was asked to compared the difference in receiving passes from Hoyer and Brady. He even said Hoyer needs to learn how make softer throws. lol

I was not aware he called the wrong mike at any point during the game. Can you point out an instance where he did? I must have missed it.

I worded it unclearly. What I meant was, I saw Hoyer under alot of pressure in the first half, like as soon as snapped the ball there were guys in his face. Might he have called the wrong protections, thereby causing the pressure? Or would that be due just to an OL breakdown?

From what I saw, the Texans believed that with an "inexperienced" QB in there, we would rely too much on the run game so they went with overpursing, e.g., getting people into the backfield as quick as possible. That is why I loved that fake handoff misdirection they ran only once. Texans bite on it so hard, Hoyer was able to jog for the first down.
