Who's Been Wrong More Than Casserly?

LOL. Gotta love BB. I absolutely love when he rips guys and takes personal shots at people, probably because it's so rare.

Excerpt:

"Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins? His percentage is like a meteorologist," Belichick said.

"He has no relationship to this team. I'd say less than zero. Based on what? He's never at a practice, never at a game," Belichick said before getting into a discussion of sports media practices in general.

"At least he put his name on it which is more than a lot of guys. But, like he usually is, he was 100 percent wrong."

Belichick: "Who's been been wrong more than Charlie Casserly?"

You can't accuse Bill Belichick of being boring with the media anymore; he just needs the right target.

Last month, he happily took shots at some Carolina Panthers in defense of Randy Moss. Speaking Monday on WEEI, Belichick took aim at CBS analyst Charlie Casserly.

Belichick was asked about Casserly's report that Tom Brady was playing through three broken ribs.

Ouch. Well, at least Casserly got the Mario Williams pick right. That notwithstanding, it looks like Casserly won't be taking the Floyd Reese route from the television studio to Foxborough.

Come on, tell us what you really think.:D

I don't think BB likes him.

a meteorologist?? Now that's a low blow Bill......
Just love it when BB takes on the mediots.

This was, of course, in response to casserly's "story" that brady has 3 cracked ribs..........100% wrong

Re: LOL Belichick: "Who's been been wrong more than Charlie Casserly?"

What was it that happened a year or two ago, and Belichick responded by saying "why don't you ask Charlie Casserly, he has all the answers", or words to that affect. It may have been during spygate, I don't recall right now.

There seems to be no love lost between these two, this goes deeper than Casserly's comments about Brady's ribs.

Casserly is a man who NEEDS attention. He's like the guy who showed up on the street after Studio 57 closed, crying that no one was willing to "share his personal space",

There's a reason the Redskins dumped him.

Re: LOL Belichick: "Who's been been wrong more than Charlie Casserly?"

BB really brought the hammer down on this one. I wish he would rip more mediots like he does Casserly.

classic...
it's too bad he doesn't do this more often but I guess it makes it better when he doesn't do it often but then rips into someone out of nowhere :)

Re: LOL Belichick: "Who's been been wrong more than Charlie Casserly?"

Some previous interactions with Casserly:

From December 2006:
Bill's take - Reiss' Pieces
There was a light moment at the end of the press conference, when Belichick was asked his thoughts on NFL rules that protect quarterbacks.
"My background is as a defensive coach, so you can figure out the answer to that question," Belichick said. "But the bottom line is that nobody cares what I think. It doesn't make any difference."

When a reporter told Belichick that his opinion was valued by him, Belichick stopped his thought and laughed. Belichick urged the reporter to check with others.

"Again, that's one of those things that I don't have any control over -- do you want replay, do you not want replay? Pass interefernce at the point, or a 15-yard penalty? I would say go talk to the genuises who make the rules, because they are the ones who make it and they have all the answers. ... There are plenty of people on that committee and they love to talk about the rules they made and how great they are and all that. The Charley Casserly's of the world, who have all the answers to everything. Talk to them."
Earlier in 2006 Casserly was highly critical of Belichick in regards to the way he and the Pats handled the Deion Branch negotiations, holdout, and trade.

From September of 2007, Casserly threw Belichick under the bus a little bit in the immediate aftermath of spygate in this New York Times article.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/13/sports/football/13patriots.html
Charley Casserly, a former N.F.L. general manager and now an analyst for CBS, reported last season that the Patriots had been caught videotaping coaches. Casserly told The Boston Globe this week that he was not talking about the incident at Lambeau Field, but about an earlier game.

In 2008 Casserly said the Pats were in violation of NFL rules for inciting the home crowd during pre-game warmups while the opposing team was practicing their kicks.

Then this past November Casserly called out Wes Welker and the Pats by saying they were purposefully using refs as shields to screen themselves from defensive backs on pass plays, in violation of league rules.

FWIW, I can remember the PFW in Progress crew talking about that. The producer for that show also serves as the stadium broadcast production coordinator during the games, working closely with John Rooke. I can remember them saying the NFL wasn't happy with them, and in return the producer (it was Gary Grodecki in 2008, now it's Jason Dvorkin) calling out other NFL teams for "cheerleading" on the PA.

Wait a minute - so Brady doesn't have any broken ribs? I'm all  .

I'm not defending Casserly, but we were talking about it in the Patriots.com chat room yesterday and a lot of people were saying, "Yeah, he's had them since the Miami game."

He does. Shalise Manza Young reported about an hour after the Casserly story yesterday that Brady originally broke them in the preseason vs. Washington, and re-aggravated them against NYJ in Week 2. Bill Simmons reported that he broke them in Miami. Our own poster, mcsully, reported in early December that he had broken ribs, apparently from an MGH source.

I'm not quite buying into what Belichick is saying here. I think he knows Casserly has been right more often than not, and isn't happy about it.

Um, Bill. In December 2006, some 9 months before Spygate came about, Casserly was on CBS talking about how the Pats were filming coaches' signals. He was 100% right on that one.

http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...gnals-12-17-06-thread.html?highlight=casserly

Sounds kinda like a weatherman, close but not exactly right... They were never accused of filming QB signals (whatever those are in the helmet to coach era)...and how do you dress someone like a coach...

Well, I was paraphrasing from that report that day. Who knows how well I did.

Brady may well have broken ribs, and BB could still take the shot at Casserly. BB is often misleading/lying when it comes to injury matters.
