Are we cursed? 2007, 2008 and 2009...

I NEVER want to hear about this talk again. This team has done things that no ever did before or thought they would do and now freak things happen and now its a curse. No talk like this ever again

Nice post and I couldn't agree more about the offense. I disagree with your assessment of the D. Burgess looks like he's finally "getting it" and to underestimate the impact of having Wilfork, Warren and Bodden back in the starting lineup would be foolish.

Hell, I'm saying right now that it's our D that's going to be making a statement in the playoffs. Guyton is the weak link at this point--if he, Thomas, Seau, Nincovich, or ANYONE can step it up at LB, this D is going to be stout.

I still believe we can beat anybody in this league in the playoffs.

I've been a fan of Burgess since we brought him in so it's nice to finally see him begin to produce, especially heading into the playoffs. I'm not basing the defensive play off of today without our better guys, I'm just basing it on how I've felt throughout the year. I feel all year we've built up our defensive stats vs teams that aren't that great. Yes we've looked good recently but look at who we've played - Buffalo, Carolina, Jacksonville. All 3 teams lack a good QB.

Our defense is very capable of stopping the run IMO, but against good QB's we've been sliced and diced consistently because we don't get pressure on the QB. Heading into the playoffs, almost everyone in the AFC has a good QB except the Jets who have an inconsistent rookie. Manning, Rivers, Palmer, Flacco will chew us if we can't get heat on them.

I'm also not the biggest fan of Bodden. I think there's a reason BB had Wilhite on Wayne a lot during the Colts game and on Colston a lot during the New Orleans game until he got pulled.

How good is anybody else against playoff teams?

Colts: 3-1
Chargers: 3-1
Patriots: 2-3
Bengals: 2-3
Jets: 3-2
Ravens: 1-6

Saints: 3-1
Vikings: 4-1
Cowboys: 3-2
Cardinals: 1-2
Packers: 3-3
Eagles: 0-4

As much as we may wring our hands over the Pats' record against better teams, it's not that much different than that of the other playoff teams.

Cursed? Cursed?!!! Take that voodoo m-f'n "curse" sh*t with you. Don't be dragging that Pre 2004 RedSox mentality in here. Most teams don't win a superbowl every 3 or 4 years... that's why it's so special when it does happen. All the lists of why some of you wonder if we're cursed- that's EXACTLY why it will be so great when we do win our next Lombardi. The longer it takes, the more it means. Win 3 out of 4, then hit a "dry spell" of a few years and we're suddenly cursed... good grief.

The Pats are the most blessed team in the league. Being able to win a Super Bowl takes a lot of good fortune, as well as great players and coaches. Any team that contends on a consistent basis will have its share of bad breaks and bad luck. The important thing is that they are contending.

All you can ask for is to be in contention each year. And that's exactly what we have been and are. You are always going to have injuries, fluke plays, missed opportunities, blown calls, bad decisions. It's a part of life and the game of football.

If you look at how successful we have been, it is truly outstanding. Won the Super Bowl in 01, 03, 04. 05 we lay an egg against Denver with bad turnovers and sloppy play even though we outgained them in offense like 400 to 200 and still had a chance to win even though we played like garbage. 06 we upset the Chargers in their stadium, go to Indy and dominate and are a few plays away from going to the Super Bowl again where we would've killed the Bears. 07 we go undefeated and although we don't play well in the Super Bowl, we play well enough to win. But a few freak things that you will never see happen again happened and we lose. 08 our star QB goes down and we go 11-5 but don't make the playoffs.

We have been in contention every year, even in 2002 where if the Jets had lost to Green Bay we would've snuck into the playoffs. At least 25 of the other teams in the NFL would DIE to have the kind of success we've had. It's not easy to make the playoffs every year. The #1 and #2 seeds in the AFC and NFC are BOTH SITTING HOME THIS YEAR! Tenn, Pitt and NYG, Carolina all missed the dance this season.

What Belichick and his staff have been able to do is remarkable. Being in contention is all you can ask for. Each year different obstacles and situations present themselves, some that you can control and some that you can't. We've all been spoiled. We all had a feeling this team with Brady back at the helm would return close to 2007 form and be 14-2 or 13-3 and dominate. This year has been a turnover year for us and we have still made the playoffs. We've seen numerous leaders and great players on our defense retire or be traded, and a bunch of new faces step in. The defense is very young. Rome wasn't built in a day. It will take time to build this team back up to being elite, but having BB and his staff, that should be a rather quick process.

To be able to be the #3 seed in a transformation year with a ton of turnover and a banged up QB is pretty remarkable to me. Yes we've made some bad decisions, but we're still in the playoffs and have as good of a shot as anyone to make a SB run. Wasn't that the goal at the beginning of the season?

Cursed? I call it karma. The Patriots cheat from 00-07, win 3 tainted super bowls,( just barely, I might add) disrespect the entire league and it's history. The coach is a scumbag human being. The QB is the most overrated pansy ever. The owner and his family are crooks. I'd say the Pats are getting just what they deserve. Go Ravens!

Thank You.

Nine straight winning seasons that include four conference championships and three league championships is 'cursed'?

Something that happens that results in a team not winning a championship two or three years in a row is hardly a curse. If the Patriots over the last couple of years are cursed, then what are the Jets since SB3, or the Lions over the last half-century?

For starters I have no idea why any fan of a playoff team is assuming their team is going to lose; that's pretty sad. Secondly, I don't understand why anybody assumes their team should win a championship every single year and anything less is either epic failure or a jinx; again, that's pretty sad in my opinion.

LOL right though? Clearly anybody who's crying curse regarding these last few seasons didn't follow the Pats before the 2000's, or has a really poor memory. Just the fact that we've been contending every season is a blessing.

Aren't the likes of you supposed to be posting over at ESPN or youtube?

Its called KARMA ! LMAO !!

Why don't you come back and talk about Karma after you win three superbowls in a decade... until then, many of us are not in the mood... one of life's very simple lessons is what goes around, comes around.

2007 - SPY GATE and the SBowl Tragic Loss
2008 - Brady out for season
2009 - Welker out for playoffs on a freak play

I mean...what is with this team? I have been more sad than happy the past few years. Today was probably one of the worst Sundays ever. Wonder if we will ever have a normal season?

Only 17 NFL Franchises have even won a Super Bowl, six of those 17 have only won one and we've won three this decade.

The team is 37--11 in the three seasons you cite with a trip to the SB in 07 and back to the Playoffs this year after being eliminated on a tie-breaker last year.

Cheesh!

Yeah. Karma! I'd hold comments like that if I were you until the Colts show their not going to throw up all over the Playoffs again this year, as they've done every season but one this decade.

At least I'm not cheering for a chicken-**** franchise that doesn't have the guts to go for 16--0 and that thinks it set some sort of all time "historic" record (in the words of Bill Polian) by winning 115 regular season games in ten years when the 1989--1998 Forty Niners won 123; you'll be real popular on the Colts Board if you point that one out.

And, real class yesterday, allowing Peyton to continue his consecutive start streak and two receivers to set personal marks before folding.

I respect and admire Manning and your players on the field; I respect but don't admire your management and I neither admire nor respect your fanbase, of which you seem to be typical.

Let's see...is it "it's Monday, it must be Trolls"? Or is it "Trolls! It must be Monday!"

Ignore the bandwagon troll. when his team chokes in the first round he'll be the world's biggest Charger fan. If the Ponies keep choking in the playoffs I wonder if Indy will steal another team for their fairweather fans.
