Why no thread on this? The defense collapsed late in the game yet again....it's awful cuz now we can be up on ravens by 21 in 4th and still not b safe

The Texans do not get 144 yards on the ground today if Wilkfork & Warren are playing.

i personally think our offense scoring 7 pts is the bigger problem. The d was out too long and we went 3 and out in typical fashion with 9 mins left to play up 27-20. The D without the Dlineman at least scored a TD which is the same what our O did. We are going to win with the offense whter we have to score 27,34 or 41 pts.

Because like ...well.. it was a meaningless game.

In fact, this game was as useless as most of your posts.

did anyone notice that in the 4th quarter, they went with the all LB's and DB's subpackage on EVERY down? i dont know if they were experimenting, or they just wanted to rest the d-linemen, or they really thought that was the best way to win the game, but i dont believe ive seen them do that thus far.

Because while you were sleeping Ian instructed folks not to make redundant threads on general biatching topics outside of the collective postgame biatching thread...

FWIW that wasn't the starting defense by a long shot. Not that some of you differentiate.

Re: 21 points allowed in fourth Q...again

This is the kind of consistency we need going into the postseason. Oh, wait... :/

Some may poo poo this... but I don't like it. Yes, Warren & Wilfork make a diff, but the game was over : again.

It'll pale in comparison with the Welker injury, but it's yet another 4th quarter fiasco.

I agree it doesn't look good, but it's a whole new season in the playoffs and anything can happen so I'm still hopeful.

Everyone is focused on the loss of Welker (which is huge) but I'm more concerned about the defense.

The Patriots are 2-6 on the road this season and they blew 4th quarter leads against the Broncos, Colts, Dolphins and Texans. The offense surely played a role in each of those defeats, but it's the inability of the defense to pressure the QB and cover the WRs for more than 2 seconds that has me more concerned.

This is now the 5th time this year that the PATS defense has not performed well in the 4th quarter against a decent QB on the road (Manning, Henne, Brees, Schaub, Orton)

Even though it was not their first team defense...this is definitely a trend and does not bode well for the 2nd and 3rd playoff game when they may have to play against Manning and Rivers.

AS constructed this defense is not a championship caliber defense and we can hope...but it would be shocking if they get past the 2nd playoff game

Colts game, Denver game, and Miami Game were all meaningless as well...wait

Today was slightly different than other weeks when this happened because the Pats were shorthanded on defense by choice. Also, the running game missed Maroney and Faulk.

I think the Pats defense will be much better with Wilfork, Warren, and Bodden back on the field. The Pats gave up a lot on the ground (especially late in the game) without Warren and Wilfork. Bodden is definitely an upgrade over Wilhite and Butler at this point.

"It is what it is" it's too late to change or cry about it at this point.

Or maybe Belichick didn't want to give out his whole hand before going into the playoffs?

Here in the DFW area, we got the game - at least that's what it appeared to me.

I agree. Obviously I'd prefer a different result, but they were playing without 3 starters for sure (Wilfork, Warren, Bodden) and I'm not even sure what kind of subs were in there at that point in the 4th.

Plus, you could just tell psychologically, after the Welker injury, the Pats players weren't exactly thrilled to be there, vs. the Texans were yet another team running and jumping around like they were trying to win the Super Bowl. Tough to match that "Do or Die" intensity when you know you have very little to play for and have just seen one of your team leaders go down with a terrible injury.

The patriots didn't look good, but liverpool looks much worse, the way they are playing, Benitez will be fired, and torres will go to Madrid.

Our defense will be fine, don't worry, with warren and wilfork, wilhite benched, burgess playing the way he is,we'll be fine

like i said earlier, im pretty sure they were using that "organized chaos" 3rd down sub package on every down in the 4th quarter. i think we've been yet to see that defense on anything but third down until now.

No Wilfork , Warren or Bodden. I think those dudes would of helped.
