After surprising us all by starting 6-0, McDaniels had his players playing hard for him.

But since then, his team has imploded going 2-8 in the last 10 games causing them to watch the playoffs from home this year.

With the way McDaniels has handled his team, by benching Marshall and Scheffler in a must-win game and becoming unpopular with his players, there is a chance of him being fired.

If he is fired, what are the chances he returns to New England as Offensive Coordinator next year?

IMO, he isn't quite mature enough yet to be an effective Head Coach but was a great OC in his time here. Although O'Brien is only in his first year as OC, McDaniels would improve this offense significantly if he returned.

Thoughts?

The 2-8 finish is god awful, but no way they sack him after one year. Marshal will be gone this off-season, he raped the Bears in the Cutler deal and has the 10th pick in the upcoming draft. You have a better chance of seeing Charlie back than McDaniels....

Not likely. They had a killer schedule and were supposed to be in rebuilding mode this year. Talking to a donkeys fan at the beginning of the year, he had expected a 6-10 season.

McDaniels started off well, and walked into a shytstorm.. he handled it well, in the offseason will jettison the excess baggage...next year the team will be more in his likeness... they will keep him for at least one more year.

McDaniels got 8 wins in a year where 5 wins would have been more likely. I don't think he's all that worried about getting fired.

You are joking right? Tell me that you are joking.

He will get at least 2 more seasons in Denver. But when Denver still can't field a winning team he may get canned like the other BB disciples after 3 seasons. I love the guy just like I loved the others but I see no reason to think he'll be a successful HC. I'll gladly take him back as an OC though.

I'm not saying there is a realistic chance that we get him back, I was simply asking the wiser members if there is ANY chance he gets fired and returns, and their thoughts on the subject.

After one year? Almost zero chance the Broncos fire him this early. After a couple more seasons maybe

Re: OT: Chances of McDaniels return?

Slim to none, and Slim just left town.

Re: OT: Chances of McDaniels return?

I don't see him, Weiss or Romeo returing back to us.

People predicted the Brooncos would be the worst team in the league before the season started. They went 8-8 which is the same record they had last year with Shanahan and Cutler.

McDaniels won't get fired. He is building a system. He will be given another few years to build it.

Re: OT: Chances of McDaniels return?

Shanahan had 9, 7 and 8 wins before being fired.

Josh will be back.

Despite trading Cutler, he made Orton into a decent quarterback before it imploded in this final game.

Fair enough. He just doesn't seem to get on well with his players which is why I asked.

Now that I think about it, it does seem almost impossible. I'll rate the thread 1 stars :)

He won't be fired.

He's there for three seasons at least, I'd wager.

He doesn't get along with head cases like Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall. The Broncos will be better with both them gone. Even Shanahan had problems with both players. Shanahan just bent to their whims while McDaniels wouldn't put up with their crap.

Ironically, both Cutler and Marshall could be the Bears' head aches next season.

Re: OT: Chances of McDaniels return?

He'll be back...BANK IT!!!!

McDaniels has no one to blame but himself for this loss.

He needs to spend less time trying to be Belichick Jr. and more time being McDaniels. Benching half your receiving core for a final must win game is down right ridiculous.
