WR is a big need next offseason... [merged]

I know we are a few weeks from offseason talk.. But with Welker going down, we need WR help.. Sam Aiken is not the answer,and Edeman is not the awnser... And Brandon Tate has more questions than answer. We need WR help, we underestimated Gaffney, and for that matter Kelly Washington.. We could use 2 more WR, espically with Moss on his last year, and now Welker big question mark..

I know everybody wants to work on the lines and defense but we have only 2 real receivers. Moss only has a couple seasons left in him and who knows the severity of Welkers issues.

I think the Pats need to snag a WR in FA. Not hope for one out of the draft and come up with another bust. Brady needs to have another guy to spread the ball around to. Another deep threat that is. Edleman looks competent but we only need so many quick, little slot receivers. The Pats need a guy who can force teams to not only worry about Moss and Welker

Receivers Next Year

So does anyone think the Patriots will actually spend money on a playmaking receiver next year? With Welker out for most of next year, adding a legit playmaking wr to moss and Edelman seems like the only way to get the offense back on track.

The sad thing is that BB blew it with a couple of guys early and then never made any effort to find a replacement for Galloway or Lewis. I'd still be signing guys now for next week if I were him.

We have Moss through 2010 as our #1 receiver.
We have Aiken for 2010 as a backup receiver and top sepcial teamer.
Welker and Tate are questionable for the start of the 2010 season.
We have a backup slot receiver in Edelman.
Our #3 and #4 receivers for the past several years are free agents (Watson and Faulk)

No, he'll actually trade those 4 day one picks for 2 - additional 3rds this year and 4 - 2's in 2015.

Here's the problem, there are no stud WR's coming out of the draft this year, there are decent wideouts in Dez Bryant and Damien Williams, but they are projected mid to low R1 selections. Which actually works for us, but there is nothing to overly ecstatic about. It is considered to be a very weak WR draft class. Wouldn't you know it ?

The big fish I think we should focus on right now is Brandon Marshall, #81 will be flying the coup after next season and we need a true #1 to compliment next year and ultimately take over the year after. Time to get Brandon in the house.......

I haven't suggested otherwise. I agree that needs at receiver should be met in free agency or with 4th round or later draft choices.
