Blown leads, untimely penalties, frequently manhandled at the LOS, unable to finish off teams. Those are the defining characteristics of this team, specifically against playoff caliber teams. I don't think I'm being "Chicken Little" by noting the recurring problems we're seeing week in and week out. They cannot change their spots at this point of the season. They can make some noise, but any Super Bowl talk is nonsense.

This team is flat out average. This season reminds me of the 2005 season. The Pats will win their wild card game and then find a way to lose on the road. Their defense is still a joke and Brady is becoming a 4th quarter loser.

are you ******ed?
No, I just watch the games. How about you?

I forgot how huge he came up against NY, Denver, Indy, Miami, and now Houston.

+1. This is just reality now. The critical fourth quarter three-and-out is all too familiar.

I think the last of the magic was spent in week 1.

Brady has become Drew Bledsoe this season. Maybe it's just a result of the injury. I hope it is. It just looks like the heights of '07 did nothing but infuse him with an overconfidence in himself, despite the clearly inferior surrounding cast. I know the personnel is largely the same, but the rest of the NFL has caught on...with a vengeance. The new OC foolishly is just now getting the news.

ENOUGH!!!!! THE BLEDSOE /BRADY COMPARISONS.. Are you really serious??? Please.... Brady has 3 broken ribs, coming of a major knee inj, no wes welker no wr besides moss now.. And some people like yourselves have the audacity to compare him to Drew interceptsoe... You need a reality check...

Also Anti-2001, Anti-2004, and Anti-2007. They have no defense

whatsoever in the 4th quarter. The season will mercifully end on

Saturday.

This could have gone in the post game thread, seeing how it fits in perfect with all the other whining

That's true when 3 of our defensive starters are out. This defense will step up once Wilfork, Warren, and Bodden are in. Wilhite is probably the worst DB i've seen get serious playing time in a Patriots uniform this decade. Every single time a team needs a 1st down, they go to wilhite. He's awful. And he won't play in the playoffs because Butler, Bodden, and Springs are ahead of him.

Wilfork and Warren are necessary for us to stop the run. So yeah, if they're out, we suck. But stop acting like this team isn't capable when everyone starts.

Edleman will do a decent job. Beyond Edleman, the other two

receivers are mediocre.

I'm concerned that this team couldn't run the ball worth a crap today.

I just can't believe how game after game we still have these 2nd half meltdowns.

1st half: 220 yards, 13 points, 13 PA
2nd half: 116 yards, 14 points, 21 PA

Excluding the TB game in London, the Pats were outscored 101 to 41 in the 2nd half of games played on the road this year. The team has now blown 5 2nd half leads on the road.

I don't think this team is good enough to make a serious run. They fail (miserably) in crunch time.

Yes they are. They can't beat any team with a .500 mark or better on the road it's like asking this team to solve world peace.

The 2003 team was a great defensive team. The 2009 team is mediocre in defence and one dimensional in offense.

We definitely won't be seeing a high octane offense. That means the defense is going to need to get serious starting next week.

As for the receivers, it's definitely mediocre after Moss and Edelman. But in that same regard, can anyone name the Pats' 3rd WR in the 2001 season without looking it up? Probably not without some hesitation, but it would be Charles Johnson, who was really no better than Sam Aiken.

The Patriots' ability to run the ball with Taylor/Maroney/Faulk/Morris will be huge.

Hence the phrase "this year". He just seems to be forcing the issue at the end of games, like a certain tall strong-armed QB we all know and loved.

Yep, Brady's last "magic" was at the end of game 1, but that might have something to do with his non-existent protection, but the D is also weak.

Choking in the 4th Quarter is becoming a hallmak of the Patriots.

Special teams cannot cover a punt, Koppen whifs on Williams and Brady tosses an inexcusable int, then the front 7 is simply steamrolled to complete the embarasment. Total team effort.

Chicken little:

A confirmed pessimist, particularly one who warns of impending disaster.
