Ian's Daily Blog - Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker left Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans with an apparent injury to his left knee. Welker was injured after*a making a reception early in the first quarter on a play which didn’t involve much contact, but he appeared to jam it into the turf after turning up field.* The bad news [...]

hated seeing that. His reaction on the bench was tough to watch............

That is exactly what you don't want to see. Charger fan, NE fan, no one. Hopefully it isn't as serious as it looks.

As a Jets fan, let me say that I take no pleasure in seeing anyone injured and I don't think anyone wants to win like that. But I don't mind if you sit anyone. ;)

No doubt about it he's done. Edleman is going to have to rise up. I mean it's not like we really expected the Patriots to do much in the post season anyhow. I figured to see a divisional round exit.

Even a Welker-less Pats team would beat the Jets at home in the playoffs

Wait your not rooting for us?! So you want the Bengals to have something to play for...

Maybe not having Welker to lean on will FORCE Brady to spread the ball around more, and play more like he did earlier in the decade? I don't know.

It blows, but guess what............ It happened. No cheap shot, just a fluke play. The only only positive that we can take is that the team will rally around it.

This is a disaster

It's such bad news, but I'm not going to give up hope. Until someone from the Pats says Welker is out for the season, I'll hold out irrational hope. On the other hand, if he is out, then I think this could be Edelman's year. An untested Tom Brady came through for us in 2002; maybe we'll see the same from Edelman.

The sad irony in all of this is that Pollard was the guy in coverage making the hit....remember him from last year folks? Now the cut looked to be what did it to welker, it's just odd that Pollard was the guy again!

Losing Welker is possibly devastating, but as a fan I'd prefer to see my team playing a full season, especially when all three units still need work. My irrational hope is that it's somehow a hyper-extension as opposed to ACL but it certainly looked like an ACL to me.

hopefully it's not a brady injury as far as full reconstruction.. Welker is overall young.

I hope he's not out for half of next season.

bad news indeed.....

at least there is a similar player (edelman) on the roster to at least be able to run similar schemes

stars are born under adverse opportunities like this

If there's a silver lining in all this, it looks like the TE's have been much more involved in the passing game since Welker went down, which may not be all bad.

Note to Ian: why not rename this thread the "Official Welker Update Thread?" That way we'll have a place to come as information becomes available.
