replace Kevin Faulk...

Chris Brown from Oklahoma U could be a late rounder.
Ben Tate - Auburn

Anyone else?

Noel Devine - WVU.
Dexter McCluster - Mississippi

I'll second Dexter McCluster from Ole Miss. Would be worth trading up into the 3rd round to grab him.

Bingo. Devine is reportedly leaning towards returning, however.

C.J. Spiller looks like a dangerous man. He could be a weapon in the running game and in the passing game. A great deal of people make comparisons between him and Chris Johnson. Though their height and weight are similar, Spiller seems to have a slighter build than Johnson. I'm not saying that he hasn't pounded the rock in between the tackles.

What I am concerned with is his ability to do the same in the NFL and still stay healthy. He has a tendancy to get dingled up a little. With his talent level and injury history, I say we take a look at him in the second round. If he's not available, Ryan Matthews or Javid Best are other great options in the bottom of the second round.

Leon Washington.

Spiller, Devine, McCluster. Given the depth at DE/OLB in this draft I could see us using a first round pick to grab Spiller if he falls. He's absolute electric. Not only would he replace Kevin Faulk in the passing game, but he could line up at WR in the slot opposite Welker or come in like a Felix Jones type of back and get 1 carry and take it to the house. He would also greatly improve our special teams on KR. We've struggled to find a good KR since Hobbs was traded. Spiller is probably one of the best KR I have ever seen. Once he gets going no one is going to catch him.

That Ellington kid on Clemson is also lightning in a bottle. He's a guy to keep your eye on for years to come.

Intersting, but why Faulk and not Maroney or Morris or Taylor?

Leon Washington.

+1. I know he suffered a severe leg injury but Faulk did as well early in his career. Assuming hes back to full strength next year, Washington would look great in a Patriot Uni.

Even if just as a kick returner.

Heck yes, it seems like every drive the Pats start from their 20. Against the Jets you are holding your breath and are happy if Washington only gets to the 30.

Downside
"Washington's injury was a double open fracture in his right leg, where the broken tibia and fibular bones came through the skin. A steel rod was placed in his leg, and Washington is beyond the point where infection is a concern. "They expect me to have a full recovery and they're real surprised at my mobility right now," said Washington. "
Leon Washington

Plus I think he is an RFA, especially if there is no CBA.

RFA - Just remember the Wes Welker deal and hope the Jesters Mike Tannenbaum does his best Randy Mueller imitation.

Very doubtful. There would be heck to pay. The fan base in New York is of a much different mental despoition and vocal level then Miami's.

Well, yes, but we are talking about the same people posting on Jest Insider aren't we? :D

Faulk is a UFA. Morris, Taylor and Maroney aren't. Also, Maroney is only 24 and still has PLENTY of mileage in his legs. Taylor and Morris have been injury plagued each of the last 3 years...

Faulk could be re-signed, but the Pats do need someone who can be a 3rd down back. Catch the ball out of the backfield. Return kicks/punts occasionally. Pick up the blitz. Run the ball on the draw.

Yes on McCluster but I don't see him lasting into the 3rd round.

Toby Gerhart.

I've not seen any RB in this draft whom I'd consider as a Faulk replacement...then again, NE may already have him on roster wearing #11.

Let's not forget Chris Taylor will be coming off IR, and in another year NE may have Kettani, White, and Barnes coming back from the Navy - White reminds me a little of Faulk, if he is working on his receiving skills on his off-duty time and bulking up a bit more for blocking he could fit the bill.

Toby Gerhart.

Gerhart even though he has not played a snap in the nfl would be a great weapon for the pats ala Rathman with the 49ers back in the day
