... that after the Jags game, the Pats had their best running performance of the year and Brady did not get hit once without Nick Kazcur in the game?

Thoughts?

Combo of things and BB made a point of it in his presser. Light, mankins, koppen, neal, vollmer. best 5 o-linemen were out there.

jags have an awful pass rush, but are good vs the run. they were screwed from the get-go.

Re: Any coincidence ...

I agree w/RW; Neal & Vollmer on the right side is our best hope.

I still can't believe that Bill extended Kaczur & Connelly; what a waste of precious cap space.

Re: Any coincidence ...

No coincedence at all, I think BB will put vollmer at RT for the playoffs.
I guess he is just waiting for him to develop, he has time until the playoffs

Connelly isn't for big dollars. In hindsight, I agree but the foresight is that BB manged the risk in case of injury and if Vollmer's development was slow. At the end of the day, Connelly and Kazur are managable dollars that don't compromise the current cap structure. Not a biggie IMO....

Re: Any coincidence ...

Vollmer is so much better than Kaczur. There was a discussion about this a couple games ago.

Kazcur still has value as a backup swing tackle. Not going to have three pro bowl tackles on your team, so better to have a #3 who CAN play both LT and RT (even if you'd prefer he didn't over long stretches).

Kazur has two bad ankles. He was nothing more than serviceable before the Indy game. Sometimes servicable can be enough.

Vollmer is a road-grader w/ quick feet. Even before his ankle injuries kazur did not have quick feet.

Re: Any coincidence ...

Actually if you watch the games where brady has been hit most the coincidence is the absence of Neal.
The 3-4 end has a field day against our backup gaurd on the right side.
espeically against dolphins in the 2nd game when starks looked like an all pro.

Re: Any coincidence ...

I dunno understand how the Jags put up 31 points with the Colts and ONLY 7 with the Pats when playoffs was on line for them....

Be careful when comparing division games to non-division games. We see it all the time. Tampa beat New Orleans, Miami beat us when we were 12-1 or something like that, and even in years when they've been playing worse Jacksonville has played Indy tight. Familiarity breeds parity.

Yup, it's football, not Madden video games.

Anyday Oakland can beat Pittsburgh, and so to can Kansas City. Oh wait, they did too. :singing: :D

Re: Any coincidence ...

Vollmer is so much better than Kaczur. .

True. I'm as big a Vollmer fan as anyone. But in all fairness, we also had Vollmer and Neal vs. Kaczur and Connolly. That's an even bigger discrepancy.

If we have Light-Mankins-Koppen-Neal-Vollmer healthy for the playoffs and we use the kind of offensive diversity which we showed yesterday, I like our chances.

Mayo hit it! If our O Line stays the same going into the playoffs as it was in the Jags game, I'm feeling pretty good entering the playoffs. Neal is the key to our running game. When he's not in there we suffer big time when rushing the ball. Now add Volmer on the right side and subtract Kazur and we are looking even better.
If we commit to some semblance of a running game, this team is so much better and more apt to make a serious run than having Brady throwing it 40 times.
The run pass split against the Jags was perfect.

Neal being injured early in SB 42 was THE key factor in losing the Perfect Season, IMO. He's been a monster when he's been in there. The problem is keeping him on the field.

I like Vollmer over Kaczur too, but Kaczur was in there last time we played Jville and Brady had enough time to eat a sandwhich in the pocket. Not sure this is the best example.

Not to forget that was a prime time game as well..underdogs traditionally play hard to win in front of a national audience.

Re: Any coincidence ...

1.) The Jaguars are the worst pass rushing team in the NFL

2.) Neal was back in the lineup

3.) Brady was sharp for the first time in weeks

It's no coincidence that the O-line played well under those circumstances, regardless of who was playing the RT spot.

His absence may not have been the main factor, but it was right up there, no doubt about it. It seemed as if the offense lost confidence running, and became a sieve in pass protection. Hmmm...maybe it was the main factor, after all.

Here's hoping that Neal can remain healthy enough for the rest of the season. Still, Bill needs to have ready Neal's replacement going forward. Maybe Kaczur can slide inside, with Light & Vollmer at the Tackles, and LeVoir as the swing.

The 197 rushing yards are the impressive stat; the Jags have a decent rushing defense.

I agree with highlighting Neal, he's a big upgrade over Connolly. But Vollmer is already better than Kaczur.
