Brady & Manning against common opponents

The way I see it they are even a lot of physical categories, size, arm strength, accuracy, although I think Peyton's might be slightly better. And both have certaintly had weapons to use.

But Peyton always seems to be in more control of the game. I think he notices blitzes and hot reads better than anyone to ever live. Brady often relies on only a handfull of plays, most of the time they work though. Coming off the knee injury Brady does not move as well in the pocket but I'm not sure he ever moved as well as Peyton. And for the clutch factor Brady has only declined over the years and Peyton has grown.
I've been lurking and waiting for something more profound for my initial post but I couldn't resist a reply here.

You walk into another groups saloon armed with a knife and look for a gunfight?

The Brady/Manning thing can be debated forever (and probably will). Why can't people enjoy the fact that we have 2 all time greats playing at the same time. Of all the active QB's if you couldn't have Manning, which QB would you take? While there are a couple good alternatives, there's really only 1 other great choice (same if you reverse the situation).

The one thing Manning didn't have that I was waiting to see is how he would work with the new guys and they seemed to have come along nicely, but he still has Wayne and Clark...

This just makes me want to play the Colts again. If the defense can be fully healthy and avoid mistakes.....you never know.

Yeah, one thing that gets overlooked is all the injuries we had on DL, and we didn't have Light for that game either. Or Fred Taylor. I'd love to see us running that ball down their throats like in '03-'04.

1. While Brady won with Troy Brown, Givens, Branch, Peyton won last year with Gonzalez a rookie, and this year with another rookie Collie, and Garcon. Peyton turned Wayne into what he is. Brady had that with Branch only to have him leave.
2. Yes the back-shoulder throw down the seam to the TE, always used. The PA passes to Moss, two of them. One of his routes is the deep crossing post, the other deep seam to the corner. Last one Moss across the back of the endzone  Why do you think Revis always shuts that down. Because it's predictable. Shotgun delayed hand off on 3rd and shorts. I won't go into Welker's routes because he runs to get open more than anyone.
3. I'm not even talking bout throwing on the run, but eluding the rush, is considered moving in the pocket.
4. Mannings career is still on the upswing, while Brady's is declining. How long is he going to last with that defense and no running game.

1) Peyton won what last year?
2) Or Moss dragging across the middle. Or the screens to Faulk or Maroney. Or the bubble screen to Welker (I don't know if you'll count that, because I guess Welker doesn't run routes). Or the spread where he just recognizes and throws to whoever's open. Or a bunch of others. Just like Manning.
3) Uh, yeah. I know.
4) Declining? He just had his second-best statistical season immediately following a lost year due to a knee injury that a lot of players never come back from.

And this is probably worth mentioning:

Rushing Offense: NE #11, Indy #31
Total Defense: NE #10, Indy #17
Points Against: NE #4, Indy #7

Great point there.

I wish you'd made this post first so I would have known not to bother with you.

What the heck did he win last year, another regular season trophy or something? One and done... Manning has played the bulk of his career with Harrison and Wayne. To say that he "made" Wayne, doesn't take away the fact that Wayne has been elite for quite some time now.

You do realize that Moss' TDs were adlibbed, and not a set-in-stone route. This offense is predicated on read and react route adjustments. The receivers aren't running one single route, they are adjusting to what the defense gives them. Your statement of Brady winning with a few of the "same plays" is incredibly ridiculous. I don't even know what you are trying to get at.

Brady is 2nd to none in eluding the rush, moving in the pocket. It's one of his greatest strengths. What are you talking about.

Now you are just delusional, absolutely delusional. Manning is a great HOF QB, and he's only 2nd to Brady, but he's 2nd nonetheless.

This only helps Mannings cause, thanks.

Typical Pats fans turning this into a rings contest and all about the past. Manning is right now the best QB to ever play. Now and in the end. Everything will support that. Brady plays the game to it's max. While Peyton is changing the game. No one can do what he does.

Nope. Seeing as Manning has had top-tier defenses for the last five years or so (including a #1) and still went one-and-done several times, it doesn't exactly help him.

Tell me: do stats, facts, and logic bother you at all?

Good job. Typical Jest fan, don't let the facts get in the way of your clear and concise analysis...

Fortuately for me this has nothing to do with me being a Jets fan, and everything to do with you being a Pats fan and your rightfully praised man crush on Brady.

And what is that?

To the argument of the OP, that the way Manning plays the QB position is better than anyone else.

You keep saying that, but the facts say otherwise. Brady has a better winning %, better TD-to-INT ratio, better QB rating both indoors and outdoors than Manning, an undefeated regular season, the #2 and #3 longest winning streaks in history (good one on Manning, by the way) and those 3 little rings.

Peyton Manning makes his receivers is just the latest myth of Manning defenders. If Manning makes his receivers, why does the NFL's best talent evaluator Bill Polian keep using first round picks on receivers for Manning? 3 of the last 7 first round picks of the Colts have been weapons for Manning, wrs Gonzalez and Wayne and te Dallas Clark. Brady is better.

False, Peytons career rating is better. Notice how you only put down the scewed categories Brady is leading in. Peyton owns just about every other dominant passing category.

Fighting for 2nd place?

Didn't Brady throw a pic to end their last playoff game against Manning?

Ok, just checking.

Yes he did throw an interception in the game and it was still 3 less interceptions than Manning threw against the Patriots in the 2003 AFC championship.

And that would be one of 2 chokes as a TEAM that NE has in the playoffs this decade.

How many do the Colt's have racked up (most of which are on Mannings poor play)? Ok, just checking.
