If they don't win, Caldwell might as well quit. No one will follow him anywhere. The team had a chance to try to become one of five teams undefeated in the regular season IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. One Super Bowl MIGHT be compensation. Not winning would be a travesty for the organziation.

Really our season was at the point of no return already

If we went 16-0, well it was SB or bust regardless, or you know how that would end

And even if we didn't go 16-0, after having such a great start the pressure was already on the Colts and Manning to prove they could win a SB after having a great regular season and not lose in the playoffs

But at this point, no matter what happens, if the Colts don't at the very least make it to the SB

Any mistake, penalty, blown coverage, tipped ball, will somehow be traced back to today's game, and the scrutiny will be even worse for Polian and Caldwell

The Colts (coaches not players) are ****ies. What happens if they do win the SB ? Everyone knows they almost certainly gave away a 19-0 season. These games weren't like the Patriots vs. Giants, a tough, physical, game. The Colts could have beaten the Jets and Bills with ease. But they were scared little girls.

Never know, maybe in some alternate universe Peyton got his ACL blown out in both knees late in the 3rd and the Colts went 0-19 (yes I said it 0-19) without him next season and he never was the same??

Sure it's possible but it's insanely unlikely. The Colts' organization is weak.

True. I don't see the logic behind not going for it. If you go for it and lose in the playoffs, at least you will go down as one of only two teams to go 16-0 in the regular season. If you go for it and succeed, then you'll go down as the greatest team ever. If you don't go for it and fail, then not only will you not have gone 16-0, but you'll also be criticized for resting your starters the last couple of weeks which might have made them sloppy for the playoffs.

There's a reason why the Colts always lose their first playoff game; they rest their starters two weeks before the playoffs and end up being sloppy against a team that just played in the wild card round. The only year they got anywhere in the playoffs is the year that they played their starters all 16 games of the regular season; but it seems that they never learn their lesson.

Sure it's possible but it's insanely unlikely. The Colts' organization is weak.

The Colts are unquestionably still one of the Top 2 run programs in the NFL, without question from top to bottom I don't even have to argue that with you or explain.

But after this season we will know for sure how effective this "Resting the Starters" thing really is, it's gotten us wins in the playoffs but not a SB, and after this season there will be no question in the future what to do

Yea. I think Caldwell would have liked to have 16-0 on his resume if he had the choice; but clearly Polian's philosophy is that more weeks of rest=guaranteed super bowl; you'd think he'd realize by now that his philosophy hasn't worked for the Colts.

In an odd way, the Colts wrapping up playoff spots and divisions as early as they often do does seem to work against them. There's been several seasons where their last few games haven't meant anything and the option to rest starters was available. The end result, as you've mentioned, has been some rather rusty performances and early playoff exits.

Perhaps if they actually had to play out the full schedule with seeding implications on the line it would force them to keep at it full strength and head into the post season staying sharp.
