Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

Tom Brady has always been at his best when he is getting everyone involved. 8 different receivers, feels like the Brady of old.

And when he gets some protection. He could have signed a few autographs after some of those snaps.

Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

The protection was great today, but I have to remind myself that the Jaguars do not have much of a pass rush to begin with. It was nice to see Brady not forcing the ball to Moss every other play. Kept the defense confused.

That was actually my point.

Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

Yup. The Jaguars aren't exactly the '85 Bears in the pass rush department. If Brady gets the same amount of protection against that Houston Texans defense next week and gets the same results, then I'll be as giddy as a schoolboy. Oh, and Jason Campbell just got killed. Jesus.

Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

After the past 2 victories we have said that they didnt mean much because of who we played and by the margin of victory, but after this weeks performace and our opponent we really cant say that. We completely dominated the Jaguars who are a respectable 7-8 and battled with the Colts till the very end just last week. Brady had his best game of the season and the defense made plays. This was the best game the Pats have played so far this season. We are definitely peaking at the right time, we can beat anyone in the league on any given day, provided we come to play like we did today.

Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

It's easy to play loose and confident against a team with no pass rush, lousy receivers and a banged up offensive line.

Brady hasn't been nearly as calm and composed in most recent weeks. Hopefully, a game where he could have set up the Grooler, set up the speaker box, cooked some tailgating food, called over the tailgate companion, whipped out the 3-in-1 condiment gun, and celebrated the play of the offensive line by raising his foozie to the sky will settle him down and he will relax in the pocket.

This was probably the best opponent the Pats have played in the last month. It was like playoff game for the Jaguars and we came out in the 1st quarter and took control of the game. The Jaguars are a playoff quality team and we dominated them. The past 2 games I think you could make the argument that winning didnt prove much because of our opponent, but this week you really cannot make that argument.

Seriously i hate when people discount wins and say the other team sucked, fact is this jags team took the colts to the wire in there last game, had 3 extra days to prepare for this game, with their season on the line, and the pats absolutely took them to the woodshed. This is the same as the Carolina game where folks said the patriots "struggled" to beat the panthers and yet the next two weeks those same panthers have absolutely dominated both the vikings and giants, give credit where credit is due this was the most complete game played by the patriots this year and i agree with brady the pats if they play a consistent game at this level for a full 60 mins there isn't a team in the league they can't beat.

I didn't say the other team sucked. Styles make fights, and they also matter in football. New England's struggled with teams that have a strong pass rush, and against teams with strong passing games. Neither were an issue today.

As for what's happened in past weekends, please.... The Saints obliterated the Patriots, the Patriots obliterated the Bucs and the Bucs beat the Saints. Teams play differently from week to week.

Excellent point.

Yeah, true............. but unlike the rest of the games, the play-calling significantly helped the o-line out today. By mixing in some effective running ALL GAME, even the best pass rushers would have paused today and while perhaps would not have afforded TB the casual 7-8 seconds the Jags game him today, he would have still been protected enough to complete most if not all those passes today.

Play-calling, plus having a weak Kazur in there has really hurt this year. In most of the games we struggled in, the play-calling was so predictable that D's were teeing off on Brady every play. Even good o-lines wear down from that. Add a few jags in there like Kazur and it compounds the problem. SeaBAss, while making a few mistakes in there today, is a much better option over there.

Well called game on BOTH sides of the ball today.

The Jags' weaknesses align with the Pats weaknesses. The Pats have problems protecting Brady and getting to the other teams' QB when it counts. The Jags (like the Bills) have a banged up/inexperienced O-Line and one of the worst (if not the very worst) pass rushes. The Pats could play exactly how they did today and get crushed by a team like the Colts who could hit Brady and protect their own QB.

None of this is to take away today's win, but the Jags just don't have the ability to exploit the Pats' flaws. That won't be the case going forward.

You are taking away some things from todays win. They beat a playoff contender 35-7 and the 7 was a meaningless TD. What more could you ask for from them? Brady threw 3 incompletions all day and had 4 TDs, cant ask for much better than that. The defense held a top 5 RB in the league to 65 yards without 2 of their top DLmen.

I think if the Pats played like they did today they beat any team in the AFC with the exception of the Colts and the Chargers and I think they have a good chance in winning in those games, it just isnt a guarantee. This was the Pats best game of the year, this is the best as its going to get in my opinion and if you dont think its good enough to beat those top tear teams then get off the bandwaggon...

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

8 different receivers? It doesn't mean much when 17 out of your 23 total passes are receptions from Moss/Welker. That's not spreading the ball around when 74% of your passes are going to two players.

The Pats as a whole had a great game but lets face it: They played a sh***y Jags team. The Jags rank dead last in pass rush and have a terrible secondary. We SHOULD be able to pass on them all day. We didn't do anything today that really impressed me.

Next week will be the true test. Houston is hot right now and playing some damn good football. If we beat them (on the road, mind you) than I'll pretty good about this team heading into the playoffs.

What leads you to believe that pass protection is a weakness for the Pats?

The Pats rank #2 in the league in adjusted sack rate (sacks per drop-back, modified for down-and-distance percentages and defenses faced) and the 2nd most efficient passing game in the league, behind the Chargers. They're 3rd in the percentage of down series that result in a 1st down or TD, and ahead of them are two teams who've faced much weaker D's.

All available evidence suggests that our offense, though a fraction of what it was in '07, has still been one of the tops in the league this year. Does Brady get hit every now and then? Sure -- but less than most NFL QBs in the league, most of whom throw fewer passes in a game. And does this happen more often against teams with good pass rushes? Well, duh! All passing offenses struggle more against a good rush. That's why they're good.

Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

Some of you pretend like it's an easy thing to win in the NFL. The Jags are not the Colts or Chargers, but they are a tough team in their own right. I would almost guarantee that the Patriots wouldn't have beaten Jacksonville 35-7 a few weeks ago.

Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

A win is a win is a win.

Re: Brady: " If we played like that today, Id love to go against anybody"

The importance of this game was that the Pats--finally--played a complete game. As Brady said, if they bring their "A" game, they will be a handful for any team. The defense has steadily improved the last few weeks, special teams is solid, and the offense was dominating. The team is also getting healthy. Yesterday the offense played one of their most physical games, which is just what is needed come January. In a couple of weeks, the opposition will get get stiffer, but the Pats look dangerous. Again.
