Mentioned it in the "Idle Thoughts" thread along with the Tomlin on-side kick. Both calls are far worst than the 4th-n-2 call and yet have received almost no coverage (versus the 2 weeks of Belichick coverage).

Fisher's was especially egregious since there was almost no downside. Imagine if someone offered you a 1-in-3 chance of winning (my estimate) and a 1% chance of losing in regulation (broken defensive play and the Fins get a 60 yard run)...and you say "Nah, I'd rather have the 50-50 shot of winning in OT"?!?!?! Seriously?

In the Tomlin presser, he mentioned that he didn't think that his defense could stop GB and he thought a surprise on-side kick would work. And the media just accepted this and moved on. No mention of how the odds of success make this a stupid decision. No mention of Tomlin not trusting his defense. Nothing.

Have only seen passing mention of Fisher's decision:

In Fisher's presser, he mentioned that he didn't want to take a timeout and "force them to take a shot and get a big play down the field" since then the Fins could use their 3 timeouts. It was his "gut feel". Unfortunately there was no chance the Fins would do anything down the field. They would try to get the first down on the ground and play for overtime. And by the way, they only had one timeout left.

That's it. Haven't seen it mentioned on TV at all. Remember all the talking heads saying that they would have crucified Belichick even if the Pats had won the game? Well now we know that it was all a bunch of verbal diarrhea.

yeah that made no sense at all. They're on their own two, the game is tied, they're not going to take any risks. There are 56 seconds left on the clock, assuming eight to ten seconds to run into the line, there could be almost 30 seconds left if you use all three timeouts. If they don't get a first down, they'll have to drop back and punt, maybe from their own endzone where anything can happen from a blocked kick to a snap that goes out of the endzone for a safety. Mind boggling and it is a good thing for Fisher's sake that they won.

I haven't seen one person say they'd blame Bill if they won that game, and if they did well hindsight is a ***** but they're lying. How many times do we hear "The Patriots go for it too much" when they're winning, and how many times do we hear it after a loss?

It's that simple my friend, winning cures all. Tennesee is a different culture than you north east folk. No disrespect, but unlike how a lot of you tend to dwell on the negative and nothings but (I don't mean this to you, rather NEers in general) like how after a W, we'll hear how Moss dogs it non-stop around here all week, etc. They don't tend to look and wring out the negatives like NEers do, so something like that is going in/out the window quickly there.

Add to the fact this game maybe had 1/4 the audience Pats/Colts did, and that's why as well.

I could go on but you get the idea. The Belichick decision still left the Pats in solid position for the playoffs. The Fisher/Tomlin decisions (if they had gone bad) would have eliminated their teams from the playoffs. King spent a little over 60 words on the Tomlin decision (just before his coffee rant) and nothing on Fisher. Have seen highlights of the on-side kick but no commentary. The highlights for the Titans game go from the Fins two point conversion straight into overtime.

Actually Miami only had one timeout left, having used their second one with about a minute and a half left....Tenn could have stopped Miami and gotten Bironus (?sp) in range for a long FG to win it. The guy already has a 60 yarder to his credit. There could have ben a fumble or a penalty in the end zone.....

I mentioned that in my post. I had to listen to his presser a couple of times to be sure I heard it correctly. How can he make a critical decision based partly on the number of timeouts Miami has and then get the number wrong?

Jeff Fisher, who I believe is one of the worst coach in NFL, regardless of his accomplishment, was coping Lloyd Carr. His decision reminded me of the horrible 'Knee down' call by Carr with about a minute and two time-out left in the 4th quarter against Penn State in 2001. All he needed was 3 points, field goal...

Regardless of what Lloyd Carr seemingly accomplished, I still consider him as a loser, because of that! Jeff Fisher is loser as well. That's it!

This season, after Vince Young took over the starting job, every time I see Jeff Fisher celebrate over his victory, I feel sorry for him. It was not his decision, and he ends up being happy with his team's unbelievable success. Pathetic...

Jeff Fisher is just another coach in my opinion..

26 games over .500 in 16 years..

and only 6 winning seasons

He plays in on the weakiest divisions in football.. Two of the teams are basically expansion teams that have never amounted to anything..

That brings up another point: what results? Six winning seasons in fifteen? Three first-round exits out of six appearances? Ooooohhhh, he made it to a Superbowl. No average coaches have ever done that.

Even counting the one-year debacle with the Raiders in 2006, Art Shell had three playoff appearances and five winning seasons out of seven as a head coach. Art Shell.

Of course I wouldn't blame someone for a win, that's stupid. Say it was a bad call? Absolutely.

It was pretty awful. But it's ultra-conservative play calling, and it doesn't draw questions from the media after. I was watching the game and was shaking my head, but I wasn't surprised at all. And there are probably 25 other current NFL coaches who would have done the same thing.

What are you people smoking? Absolutely no excuse for him not taking the time outs, none. If they'd have lost, people would be seriously questioning how that went down. But they won so it's a non-issue.

Fisher is not stupid, so how do you explain it? Hmmmm....wasn't Fisher the guy who was seen laughing when one of his players cheap-shotted Rodney and ended his season? Is this not the same Jeff Fisher who laid down for Indy and his buddy Dungy a couple of years ago, deliberately tanking an NFL game to give Peyton and co. a better seed in the playoffs?

C'mon, this guy is so dirty he makes Don King look like Honest Abe. Only betting or a vendetta towards [or a favor to] another NFL coach explains this.
I'm surprised he didn't tell his long-snapper to go in and clang it off his FG kicker's facemask on the final play. F'in pathetic. Oh, and I'm sure his power 'stash must really get em going over in P-town and Key West.
